The Stay

She ran with all her might To a place of safety, for the night A shack, deep in the woods Where no civility could ....ease....the stay The closet held memory Where he could free "me" To play out the beating In a field of bleating ...sheep...counting...the stay They grew together, alone In a multi-roomed home Trying to find a place In a shelter where no ONE had a face ...to...stick...stay ...........true Shifting, gifting, then resisting Responsibility, accountability Who can now trauma If the law is complete intent The lawless are content In the running drama Of their own creation A moving train station Always ready to move Get down to the current groove ...of how folks are living Why are they never punished Why do they always get away Trying to pin intent on evil Will always get, the stay .....until ONE day Written by Trudy Schrader on 10-03-2023
