Strength In Suffering
Though my body decays,
in his name, my soul lives.
For his love rained down from bloody cross,
and tore the veil that divided us from God.
I suffer daily, my joints ache and freeze,
my heart skips a beat, yet I revere God.
My pain is unbearable in earthly terms,
yet God gives me his spirit of strength.
My mind is shaded with a pillar of fatigue,
yet his pillars of wisdom grant me peace.
Though the devil seeks to corrode my heart,
and more so erode my mind, I know,
that by following God’s teachings,
and by shunning sin, I shall be free.
When others speak untruth, seek to criticise,
may I have a wholesome tongue, one,
that leads others to the truth and light.
I know my eyes will fail me, my bones will break,
but so much more, I know that he loves me.
His love transcends beyond death to life eternal.
So, as I struggle, and am yet to find rest,
I shall ever sing of his goodness.
My Lord, my saviour, my stronghold.
My friend.
