Still Be There
When the long night comes a falling
and your back's turned to the winds,
You reach blindly for salvation,
hoping forgiveness begins.
There's still much more thunder rolling,
shaking your soul through and through,
Tells you once before the morning
"to yourself you must be true".
Midnight dreams can't be forgotten
when they're painful as can be,
It's like the whole world is watching
your once private misery.
Yet the morning keeps on coming
from beyond the distant rise,
Moving through the thunder's echo
as you fight to clear your eyes.
Where will you be come tomorrow
when your memories arrive?
Will the heart ever be lifted
if the yesterdays survive?
Still will be the hungry feelings
that somehow seem to belong
Even though they have passed over,
to hang between right and wrong.
Fare thee well all that was righteous,
fare thee well what was to come,
Futures turn to what is written
long before it's said and done.
Though that midnight hour holds you,
keep your back turned to the winds,
One day you’ll find the salvation
and be free of all your sins.
