October Told Her
She wandered about the peaceful eve
Not knowing what it was she sought
Pumpkins on porches, a few fallen leaves
Weren’t as welcome a sight as she thought
October told her "Go explore
I promise you, you will find more
All that glitters is truly gold
When these treasures you behold"
She wondered about the All Hallows
And the state in which they would find her
For the dusk and the chill air that follows
Are a beautiful, painful reminder
October told her "Hold on tight
To childhood joys like Halloween night
Don’t let your old age make you part
With the tricks and treats you hold at heart."
