Memories Sweetened By Time
If there ever comes a day when we can't be together,
keep me in your heart, I'll stay there forever. - A.A. Milne
On the outskirts of dad’s hometown, wild blueberries grow
and bishop’s lace adorns highways like fine thread
stitched on an old coat. Here, I wander barefoot through
grief on paths shaded by pine trees. Memories flow from heart
to pen.
these berry-sweetened memories
trod a path through my moonless skies –
summer breaks in morning light
