Maybe

Making him your one and only After his unfilled promises. Yanking out those treasures of love Brought out from closet cornices, Even though he's your turtle dove.

I wrote a poem with the same title but it is a far cry from yours. Splendid acrostic.

My greatest fear is that one of my poems will accidently copy the work of another. My brain is highly retentive. I will pull any poem that appears to be copied from another. I searched for your poem, but I could not find it. I always appreciate your opinions. Thank you for your comments.

Dear Hilda, sometimes love can be like being in a state of limbo with both dreams and broken dreams hanging in the balance. A thought-provoking, ambiguous poem so beautifully expressed. Congratulations for POTD honors.. a worthy and well deserved choice. Warmest wishes dear poetess.. ~Susan

Hilda, congratulations!!! And yes, I suspect she's going to throw some of it or most of it out. As you point out in the comments, it's not for certain what will happen. Love the ambiguity!

I think I had to read between the lines, Hilda. First concentrating on the words, but then remembering “maybe.” …unfilled promises…yanking out…closet cornices…Congratulations on POTD! Hugs ~ Kim

Thank you. Most of my poem have a read between the lines element. Maybe she'll forgive, maybe she won't, maybe she can find someone better.

Hilda, my friend, I am pleased of your defining frailties drawn via the reality of the natural order of life that's well exemplified with your winning POTD. Aloha, William

Turtle doves leave messes too... Love how used 'yanking out' --- my mind immediately went to 'and smashing!' Congrats on POTD, Hilda.

Thank you, Ink. The introspective maybe is very important in romance. When maybe goes, it's good. Thank you for reading my poems.

The treasures of love are a reminiscence of what’s been shared even with unfilled promises and forgiveness/ acceptance are given as it’s a lifetime partnership. Really enjoyed it.
