"One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life. The word is love." Sophocles, Greek Poet
If love was a metaphor for flowers, our souls would rejoice in April showers. Foundations nurtured by amorous hands, would prepare rainbow colours on bland lands. Romance of spring would bloom like daffodils, yellow, white and gold shades of zealot thrills. Solace of tulips would soothe in fresh air, red, orange and pink tones dancing with flair. Lovers of the sun would worship its zeal, as its selfless nature helps cold buds heal. When stalks start to wilt from ardent burdens, sow new seeds to rejuvenate gardens. Life can be toxic, breeding weeds like hate. To attract bees, spread nectar to ease fate.

Congratulations on your win. I enjoyed reading your "Love" write. Yes, love can bring beauty in all things. What an ending. Hate can kill love just like weeks to a garden. Enjoy your day with your wonderful win.............

Your opening and ending lines serve as splendid bookends describing beauty of love and how it can hurt ---If love was a metaphor for flowers, our souls would rejoice in April showers---Life can be toxic, breeding weeds like hate---

A peaceable and serene sonnet, Silent One. I like how the subject of horticulture portrays love. Wish you the best of luck staying away from bugs and harmful plants and animals. I believe your sonnet flowed well and that you used a pleasing rhyme scheme; I also believe the gardening subject was well-developed. Great imagery and a striking final couplet make this poem stand out. Hope you do well in the contest,

you nailed the form she wanted, Silent One. I enjoyed your rhyme scheme and the fluidity of your poem...enjoyed the gardening overarching theme as you wove it through your sonnet. A superb poem filled with delightful imagery and a powerful last two lines. Best wishes with the contest, Sara

Well, you've spread some serious nectar mojo with this bad boy. How many poems written about love, each the same and yet unique. Yours always carry your stylistic stamp. Very nice

If love had a tune, it would be the rhythm of these rhymes, so beautifully crafted in the most eloquent manner! You really do this so very well! What a song to go with this! “Romance of spring would bloom like daffodils, yellow, white and gold shades of zealot thrills. Solace of tulips would soothe in fresh air,” words of a poetic gardener those are for sure! So beautiful and captivating! I really love this! And this is maybe one of my new faves again from you! But you always do that, leave us mesmerised! Exquisite one! Will score high I suppose! I dont think ill be able to enter this contest as i dont have much time now. But im glad u did! Best wishes for the contest

Silent One, neat sonnet. Like the gardening theme as a metaphor for love. Hope to avoid weeds and toxic life as much as possible, but it's a chore that requires constant attention. I gardener I know tells me it never ends.

Dear Silent One, indeed, love conquers all! What a metaphorical gem this is. Superb imagery and rhymes water your verses to bloom upon the page with poetic splendor. So delicately, soulfully beautiful. The artistry of your couplet is a fantastic finale and breaths new life into Sophocles quote with vivid imagery. Warmest wishes my inspiring friend.. ~Susan
