CURTAINS

CURTAINS Like all exhausted actors, I’ll fold and drop And will this endless production ever stop Do you understand, just listen to me I pray I play the lead in this, so I must have my say Ah well, my dear, I concede that it’s a fact But surely you recognise it’s only the first act We must gird our loins and see it to the end Otherwise, it sets an example of a lazy trend I don’t care what you’re saying, I am so tired Even if the director threatens that I’ll be fired Wearing this silly costume, now I hate myself I’m sure I saw similar, worn by that Panto elf Ah, so you recognise that we’re due back on And all hope of any further rest is surely gone So smile, my dear, just step out into the light This play won’t make it past this opening night

I looked at this contest but was a wee bit baffled. Seeing what you've written clarifies the contest's objective. Best wishes with the contest, Sara
