Fly
Standing cautiously at precipice, leaning
backwards-looks down.
Sudden thrust, feet leave ground, heart
pounding. He leaps.
He doesn't fall, reassuring earth beneath
spoils adventure.
Heart craves-helpless feeling of fall,
thrilling freedom & fear enslaved.
And fear enslaved rational mind, brews
hole in gut, hollows being
As sour tasting cowardice dulls
imagination. Desires numbed.
Defeat stares face,eyes shamefully shy
away, parched lips dry- twitch
explanations.
Addiction then wears sublime mask of
exhilarating adventure,
Petty truth, worthless pride of commoners,
be rooted to earth;
Thoughts take wings, paint visuals tainted
with experience,
Mind chains to ground, screaming-"Don't
jump, you will die". Legs frozen.
Death is but for mortals, invincibility
entices brave heart.
Weak-kneed it gives in to adrenaline rush
& impractical want of freedom.
Hopes fuel foolishness, foolishness fuel
hopes; each weakens unwavering reason.
But reason weakens true greatness. Heart
wills greatness be conquered.
Life useless lived uselessly for useless
use of living usefully.
Standing cautiously at precipice, leaning
backwards-looks down.
Life ashamed at such inaction in hind
sight sparks frenzy uncontrollable.
Toes quivering, excited heart skipping
beats, fingers flexed.
Sudden thrust, feet leave ground, heart
pounding. He leaps. He flies.
Freedom.
