"After 35 years of living in North Texas and working 5 of those years maintaining the safety of roads for the Public Works Department, I know the unpredictability and ferocity of winter storms and icey roads in Texas and Oklahoma. In 1989, Tom and Elaine Huch left the safety and comfort of their home and traveled hundreds of miles in a two-wheel drive car during a deadly winter storm to rescue me. Cell phones with GPS navigation and weather alerts did not exist in 1989, I know who my Mother and Father are."
