Monique Fen Poem
This one day each year,
the nation comes together
to remember the loss of
one college
It brings pain and sorrow,
but happy memories
or those who died;
family, friends, strangers
The loss of 32 colleagues
is heavy in our hearts,
but still we manage to
keep on going
The lone 33 we might
hate, despise, but we
will learn to forgive over time
Because that's
what Hokies do;
forgive, but never
forget anyone or anything
along the path to winning
or losing
They learn to stay
strong, weeping and
crying only in
moments of need
Because Hokies are strong
We remember those who died,
some saving others, some....
just in the wrong place
A German teacher, a French
instructor, a robotics
professor, an aeronautical
engineer, and environmentalist,
and many students,
with many dreams
We may ask ourselves whys
Why did it happen to my dad?
Why did it happen to my daughter?
Why did it happen to my friend?
Why did it happen to this college?
And most importantly,
why did he do it?
We'll forgive, but never forget
Because that's
what Hokies do;
forgive, but never
forget anyone or anything
along the path to winning
or losing
They learn to stay
strong, weeping and
crying only in
moments of need
Because Hokies are strong
Hokies are strong

Monique Fen Poem
Little town in the boondocks
Little girl just waiting to grow up
People thought her life was perfect
Thought she was perfect, but she wasn't
She felt like an outcast
with her friends,
felt like an outcast
to the whole wide world,
felt like she'd burst
with all her troubles,
felt like she'd drown in her life
Perfect grades got her freedom
Horrible temper got her grounded
Couldn't keep up with her parents expectations
Perfect music got her first chair
Sharp tongue got her the hallway
Couldn't stop cursing her teachers and life
Perfect actions got her friends
Fights got her in the office with none
Couldn't keep all these friendship rules straight
So she started drowning in her life
Got in trouble everyday
Couldn't help it with all the rules to break
Started skipping classes, cutting school
Her grades went down the drain with her life
Ranaway, came back
Found out that life wasn't for her
Couldn't keep anything straight
Couldn't do anything right
So she drowned in her life
Yeah, she drowned in her life

Monique Fen Poem
She laid on the ground
watching him stand over her
He stood, not moving
She didn't know what to say or do
just wanted to take him in her arms
tell him it was okay
But he turned and
galloped away into the sunset
And she saw
Her knight in shining armor
galloping away
A knight in shining armor
galloping away
He left her there,
not rescueing her,
not turning back
Her knight in shining armor
He stood over her
as she laid on the ground
He didn't know what to say or do
couldn't say "I'm sorry, gal Sorry I did it"
He turned away
in shame and regret
He galloped away
into the sunset
And she saw
Her knight in shining armor
galloping away
A knight in shining armor
galloping away
he left her there,
not rescueing her,
not turning back
Her knight in shining armor
Years passed by
He got a new lover
She stayed single
waiting for her knight in shining armor
They moved away from each other
pretending not care about the other
But when she heard about his lover
she looked into the sunset
And she saw
Her knight in shining armor
galloping away
A knight in shining armor
galloping away
He left her there,
not rescueing her,
not turning back
Her knight in shining armor
left her stranded on
the Island of Darkness

Monique Fen Poem
Flying high
Flying high, high up in the sky
Growing bigger,
bigger with every second, every minute
Her dreams flocked around her,
swarming and buzzing to be fulfilled
But soon there became so many
they broke,
they split off from the main pack,
the main dream
Her dreams flew off without her,
without her help
They flew high,
high up in the sky,
hitching rides to a place
where they could be fulfilled
They flew over the highest mountains,
over the lowest valleys
to the other side of the world
They were dropped there
dropped on the ground
And others came around
and picked them up
The dreams flocked around
the new ones
begging to be released, fulfilled
But the dreams soon burst away
flying in the distance
to another place
halfway around the world
They kept flying,
flying to a place to be fulfilled
They flew for miles, and miles
always stopping, but
always leaving
They spread their dream,
the main dream
shared amongst all dreams
Hope,
a future spread with them,
until everyone had the same dream
Until everyone was filled
with the same hope
They came together,
flying high on dreams
The same dream was formed,
throughout the land
Peace
