Xylem Poems | Examples

Xylem Ablaze

He climbed atop
an oak on fire
Its sap transformed
by flames concealed

Each branch he passed
a year he traded
For what’s unseen
— by heat congealed

Something fun

If you would like to have F U N,

When shall we?

Shall we climb into some trees and
Seep our emotions into the autumn leaves?

Follow their transition along the seasons
And cuddle our nervous excitement through
Columns of xylem and phloem?

Waiting For the Sun

Waiting For The Sun

There is a fire in me that is too much for this world
Smoldering deep in the roots of my soul
Flames budding, their blossoms longing to unfurl
Up xylem, down phloem, reciprocal control

Failure means you tried
Would rather you had died not knowing?
Successes can be found
When you stop, stare at the ground
And suddenly you've found
By new heights
You're still growing

Eventually the spring will come
Thawing frosts the winter spun
Always darkest before the dawn
Ever waiting for the sun
So count your rings, and stand up straight
Brace yourself against the wind
Hold you glow and embrace the wait
For your time to shine again

In the darkness is where you find the light
In the silence you can lift the sound to life
And every time I find it, it gets brighter
And every time I lift it, it gets lighter
Why can't you be a lover, and a fighter
Jack of all trades, master of none

Atop all things is the apex of life.
Perceive all impossible dreams are there

Midsummer Night

Abstract algorithm. Brooding distraction,
cleverly cloaked in digital fleece.
Enigma encoded. Like so many fireflies,
Hastening gauntly heavenward.
Juniper immolation.
Ides jaundiced light.
Kinetic kites, luminescent in the night.
Milky Way mighty, northward pointing,
Occidental wind opens, plumes rising.
Quickened quiet shroud.
Revelation.
Reincarnate.
Souls thin the veil.
Under the upholstered vault,
 xylem-charred waste,
Drawn to the yawning zodiac.

Blues, Cues and Shoe Stews

Refuse to hang the innocent
While your gang acquits the guilty
In a tooth for a tooth pronouncement
You state in collusion with the mighty.

Accuse with the ruse in your news dissidents
Whipped into submission
To the coercion of incidents
Incorporated into a dictatorial diction.

Cruise out of control
With your weapons of avid annihilation
Primed to wiped out any pesky patrol
That surveys the sadness and sickness in your jubilation.

Freeze the breeze trees in infancy
Stunted when you hunt down their xylem
In a show of tethered truancy
Boosted by a nihilist anthem.

Use distorted dialogues
Conducted at cross purposes
In muted prologues and monologues
With enfeebled and emaciated faces bereft of choices.

Save knaves and staves
Slaves struggle to free from the tyranny
Perpetrated in war veteran graves
To whom you dished out a cashless cacophony.

Wave flaccid flags flown at half mast
As conflict casualties mount
When baskets of mourning cast
A dark pall on leadership lists of skills to discount.

Despair not. Repair the flare
No longer impotent, no longer content
As venom fangs bare
Death diadems an bother bandanas for the discontent.

Forever Rooted

I'm a resilient plant see I thrive on your absence
You can forget about me but for sure I grow stronger
I won't shrivel, wilt and crumble out of balance
Air and light is all I need in life I conquer.

Roots rich with nutrients foiled your attempts of neglect
Positive motivation in germination I succeed
For this gentian my water retention keeps me erect
It's photosynthesis the sheer willingness in life indeed

Erect on the shelf I think to myself how brave
To have a pulsating xylem from root to the leaves
And the wall of moisture I built to defend the toxic ideas you crave
You see my resilience is pure excellence in life I do achieve.

Premium Member Waking To Warmth

Away dashes the last frigid brush of winter
Beauty cannot wait to rise and greet the sun
Crocuses are first to break through barren soil
Daffodils display their lacy, yellow petals next
Even the iris is beckoned by warmth
Fragile blooms pray another frost will not come
Gardenias bestow their sweet aroma
Hibernating forsythias wake to grace the garden with gold
In these early weeks of spring
Junipers need time to develop fruit
Kindling and firewood are laid aside
Lovers saunter through gardens
Magical kisses are shared beneath the draping willows
Nests appear high in tall trees
Oaks are filled with robins and blue jays
Peace is found in a hike through the woodlands
Quickly, a red fox darts across the trail
Rabbits are his prey
Squirrels shake their fluffy, furry tails
Total bliss is found in nature’s rebound
Upon the trellis vines are sprouting
Violet morning glories wake to greet sunrise
Winter must remain dormant for nine long months
Xylem carries nutrients to thirsty leaves
Yearlings with dotted hides emerge from forests to graze
Zigzagging among bushes, hummingbirds joyfully welcome spring

Spring Revival

Acres of lush emerald meadows
burst forth from pregnant earth,
creating the perfect background for a
dazzling array of wildflowers.
Expectant mothers of beast and fowl
fill the countryside with new
generations, eager to find their way.
Honeybees and hummingbirds
in frenzied competition for sweet nectar.
Jasmine and gardenia blossoms
kindle their senses with a
lustful, pungent fragrance.
Mares, folding new colts,
nudgeing them gently up
on quivering, spindly legs.
Ponds give travel to ducklings following in the
quake of proud mamas.
Rainbow trout rush upstream to
spawn, before laying eggs in lazy pools.
Throughout floral scented air,
unfettered birds soar freely,
voicing a revival of hope and joy.
Whimsical butterflies take a rest on
xylem, between aireal ballets.
Young babes everywhere, renewing our world with a
zest for life's adventures, awaiting.

If Only

Themselves they waged war against
Placing a rift between themselves
Their fingers they consider as meat
To see their blood is their life's love.

Apart themselves they tore
Assuming positions so parallel
Amongst themselves they war
Out themselves they are determined to level.

They war on the trail
The trail of the line
The line that stood between them
And introduce the language 'mine'.

Larger than them is its stem
The flame they ignited soon overwhelmed them
It burned and burned
They stood pruned, consumed.

Their bud blossom
Into flowers they grow
They try to poison the xylem
So the tracks by action they shall never blow...

...If only we can wave them aside
And beside them bury their hatred's seed
We shall no longer suffer for what we know not
And rife we'll stamp out.

Decidious Leaves

The xylem saps are heading south
like the majestic autumn sun,
deep down into their woody roots.
Soon deciduous leaves will die
and their exquisite lingering
dissolution's will manifest
tinctured, ephemeral beauty:
crimsons, oranges, yellows and greens
and all the subtle hues in between.
A sweet, earthy scent saturates
the cool, autumnal air we breathe.
Then one by one each leaf succumbs
to a gentle rain or zephyr
descending silently to earth.
