Premium Member Would Be Humorous Except

An army of vampires, this night’s parade. Paralyzed are the gawking present day minds. Mouths agape, rubbing eyes, a thought that there may be no escape. The sign out front would be humorous except it’s diabolical.

we will be feasting
this Halloween by moonlight
do join our blood drive

One couple hopes for an alien abduction, seems less threatening at the moment. A cautionary tale, for their wish has been granted. Down comes the ray, lifting them to a giant dinner plate. Trickery, the treat celebrated earlier in the week.

alien vampires
delighted with honored guests
no need for ketchup

Carefree Heart

With reckless abandon, I tearfully love
Nearby the carefree heart is laid
Lashes of eyes so greatly beloved
With reckless abandon, I tearfully love
Passion ensued in wishes above
Quietly grinned a serenade
With reckless abandon, I tearfully love
Nearby the carefree heart is laid

My health is back; I am almost normal
I had been in the bowels of depression
after eight weeks of shingles that took me out and shook me

I saw my friends yesterday, for the first time
Seeing them is a great way to generate poem ideas
Their stories are always funny and spicy.

My grandchildren came over last week.
They were so glad to see me alive and healthy
After a hiatus that seemed to last ten years!

I am drawing cartoons, and painting in my studio.
It waited for me, happily, ready to give me joy
Whenever I was ready.

I picked up a dictionary yesterday and began
Looking for new words. I have a word list all over a page.
They are ready when I am ready.

In the meantime I am back in my studio drawing
Faeries, witches, cats, dragons, and pirate ships.
My health is so great, I dare you to make me walk that plank.

I dare you to try and get my goat.
I dare you to irritate me. My health is back!
I am enthusiastically me again. Splash.

Words come out
Pout to shout

In deep feel
A crisp thrill

Weave the gist
In word list

Feel the thrill
Where words spill

Know deep trance
As words dance

Mind meets mood
Feel form food

Glimpse good grace
Apt art ace

Craft rich blend
Round this bend

In good shape
Word sketch drape

Rhyme greets time
Dance deep chime

In sheer thrill
Word fudge shrill

Now zero
Still hero

Premium Member Poetry Thing Does Not Always Go Easy

I will use some lovely words today.
I am determined to use words like gossamer, gauzy,
delight, nirvana, heavenly, and what the heck?
Who is knocking on my door like that? Putting me in a bad mood.
It sounds like they are pounding the house down.

It is my dog, who cannot get into her doggie door with the
stuffed duck in her mouth.
Okay.
Where was I?
I have a word list of all the most romantic, poetic words
imaginable. Words I rarely use. Words like luna, cosmic,
mystical, Ophelia, roses, demon lover, allure, alight, uplift.
Crumb!

Who is in my driveway?
I hate it when a truck stops here.
The dog goes crazy, breaking my concentration.
Oh, a good friend, who wants to paint today.
Yes, I can easily switch gears.
This poetry thing is not working a bit anyway…..

DEATH DEVOURS LOVELY THINGS

The fallow ground was thirsty for her —
“I’m in trouble” stung like a nightingale’s knife.
The moon and stars in vertiginous blur
stilled her mothering heart — her life.

Music of the twilight and cherry bobs
in the twins’ manhattans. Celebratory smiles
and cheers ferment to grieving sobs —
a blossoming bosom of lamentations and trials.

O melancholy separation from the womb.
Twins battle to connect in the hopeless rain.
Death devours lovely things - rose perfume.
Fallen petals in funeral march forge their pain.

A beautiful ballerina buried in a music box —
the missing florid centerpiece at the family’s table.
Her presence rushing to heaven’s gate shocks
the cosmic atmosphere — contingently a fable.

Anomaly don't enter contests like this
the style is a bit avant-garde,
I'm a bit of an oldie, preferring baroque
and finding this bona fide hard.
The cacophony of words dancing round in my head,
carte blanche to use this ten word list,
this is my third attempt, seems a bit deja-vu
but my dilettante side can't resist.
Not sure if I can do this write with elan
but hey-ho, ennui go.

Google Apology

I apologize for sometimes being lazy
having written down a poem that now translates to google voice paging.

I grab my tablet and hit display but lack the desire
to traverse the keys with my index pointed finger.

I press the microphone for Google voice
which now translates only words it hears.

And on the screen appears inaccuracies of what I meant to say
as the stylus now must correct the flaws.

My thick fingers missed the word list
and enter some strange and unknown scrawl.

So, I apologize
for errors on display that strangely appear upon the poetry wall.
