I wished for trails not strewn with roots
nor rocks and stumps that trip a careless step
- and thought of how 'twould be so kind
for life to benefact a tidy sum so -
I could rise and yawn each dawn
upon the feathered bed of paradise?
and - what of love, wherein the perfect mate
shares life without regret nor question?
we stride, in our expectations,
in our dreams and wishes - so nonchalant
yet, perfection grows its tenebrous roots
that seize the shallow steps
we never thought would matter,
until we fell and wished to simply
...get up...
Sawdust on the floor I'm sure you know the place
When you walk in everyone stares at your face
The barman is busy tonight you wait by the bar
Beer finally served outside there is a noisy car
Heads now bowed a spare seat is duly spotted
A pen and paper come out a scheme is plotted
Trouble surrounds you whether justified or not
Doesn't affect your prep and you get back to plot
On the paper something interesting is written
Numbers relating to a bank safe in Great Britain
Making sure the paper is well hidden from view
That's when Malloy comes in to sit next to you
Malloy points to the direction of the pub door
He wants me outside more plotting for sure
We talk in hushed voices nobody is around
I nod and shake my head looking at the ground
The plotting now done back inside we both go
What was said I'm sure you'd really like to know
You will hear on the news in the months to come
Bank raid in Chelsea money stolen a tidy sum
Excuse me; I can't hear you
My batteries must be flat
I am not sure I have my hearing aid in
As I am as blind as a bat
What did you say? Feel
Feel? that won't do any good
I would have done that in the first place.
If I felt I could.
Could you repeat what you were saying?
I still can't hear.
Please speak up and make it clear.
Any deaf person would have heard the caller shout,
With my mouth wide open, I tried to work it out,
I screamed back; what did you say I've done?
Madam, you have won the lottery, a tidy sum.
I was speechless, struck dumb.
No idea of this novel virus thing
The powerful, politics loudly sing
Advised about money to be made
Plotting how rivals can quickly fade
When to reality they finally awake
It will be new power sharing plans, to make
Seers tell us the worst is yet to come
A few at our expense, will make a tidy sum
Someday I Want To Be...
What I want to be someday I will keep secret.
For if I tell you I'm afraid I will regret.
Because to shine a light on future hopes.
Opens the door wide for idiots and dopes.
So someday I want to be what I want to be.
It's really not for you, it's only for me.
So if and when that day does come.
I hope it all adds up to a tidy sum.
Looking in the mirror of future reflections.
Is a solemn journey meant for private inspections.
I've spent my whole life waiting for that day.
But as you well know, what comes, what may.
Someday I want to be happy to be me.
To know a little joy and to just be free.
To just be comfortable in my own skin.
And get out of the trouble that I've gotten in.
Note: Day 4 of writing exercise.

Adjust your position so I can see your thoughts on what has gone
Sit me down and explain just why and what I have done wrong
I only know I love you but I can see you don't agree
My father was an inno-cent and helpful to a tee
He worked and toiled abroad for us that gave a tidy sum
And off you went and took me too together with the mon
A beautiful house your dream come true and yet he lived abroad
You barred him from the children too come sickle or come sword
He said he'd sue for character defamed but I protected you
You don't see this and I suppose you may not ever do
And now he's passed away you say 'I'm sorry for what you go through'
No mention of a sympathy but yet your parent's do.
And now you're saying as to form 'It's my way or it's none'
I have not seen my children now for one year and more to come
