AMINA
Ameituliza nafsi yangu
Mkuu wa yote duniani
Iwapo nitapoteza njia
Najua penzi lake 'tanipata
Anivite kwake, aniite wake...

Kaka Fisi- Swahili
Kakangu kaka fisi
Kila time wala misi
Ulalapo uamka kesi
Kwani wewe mesi?

Wasema wapiga tizi
Tizi tizi na ni kizi
Halafu hauna wasi
Wazi unakaza fizi...

Hatred's Other Face
I love you

words spoken

in English Spanish Arabic Tagalog and Swahili

words spoken

by waitress

and by the tycoon

by the wife

and by the mistress

by the executive

and by the seamstress

words you hear

whispered

among those who kill

and among those who are killed

hatreds other face

   destiny

of human race....

Within Us All
No people or culture
lack the knowledge of God,
no matter how tribal
or famed

A Buddhist, Swahili,
a Mayan or Jew,
His message embedded,
ingrained

Those willing to listen
and heed to His call,
a power within
drives them on

Until Armageddon
brings light to the dark,
our natures so given
—to Him will belong

(The First Book Of Prayers: January, 2022)...

Hot Iron
Little fingers stay away
Mommy needs you to be at bay
But you are like, mommy no nay
Tiny young one are you trying to stray

Mtoto akililia wembe mpe (swahili proverb)
When a child cries for a razor blade, give it to him

But why does it have to be "him"?, I ask without pay
You know boys, lets say
Well, girls too are a little crazy
Girls and boys I will give you hay to play
That should cool the iron, yay!!...

What Language Does God Speak
WHAT LANGUAGE DOES GOD SPEAK ?

Do you think in Russian words or English?
No, in pictures and shapes - feelings
That’s why God doesn’t have to speak Swahili or Chinese
He sees our pictures
You don’t have to be all holified, or prayeriffic
Saintified people use pictures too
Little children use pictures
Suffer little children to come
Speaking no words, neither churchful Hindi
Nor mosquacious Arabic.
He sees their pictures...

Biriani
Rice soaked and yellowed
in steaming, spiced curry
dance around the cooking bowl,
as they collide with chicken legs
and thighs once in a while...

My family sits around the table,
with anticipation visible
with their salivation. They can
smell a Swahili cuisine
from the dining room.

Patiently,
I wait for stew above the rice
to disappear,
then I give the green light
with sounds of cutlery
and wine glasses....

Premium Member Swahili Verse-Sinner One I Comes Before You Lord-
SINNER ONE I COMES BEFORE YOU LORD-
Nina kuja mbele yako
Ninakuja mbele yako
Haipendwi
Ninakuja mbele yako
Mwenye ddhambi
O, Bwana Baba Mungu
O, Bwana Baba Mungu
SINNER ONE I COMES BEFORE YOU LORD-
fikia ndani kabisa ndani yangu (ndani yetu)
Ninafuta kutoka kwangu
Nirekebishe
Nibadillishe upya
Nipe upya
Nikamilishe
SINNER ONE I COMES BEFORE YOU LORD-
Ninakuja kabla huhanimaliza
Hallelujah

Dada
i call you dada
yes you are my sister
though we are not related
your attitude concerns me
and you don't seem to care
because that's what you are
dada,my sister
that's no way for an african beauty to behave
hanging around bars and pubs
waiting on men to buy you drinks
i call you dada
that's swahili
it means sister
dada,have you ever wondered
why they call you malaya?
change your ways dada
i urge you
get a job
if you wanna make a life for yourself....

Give me an apple
from my garden
Red and juicy
An aromatic, fresh taste
In the apple's stomach,
many small apple children
A smell of summer and sunshine

They are cheaper today,
compared with the price
on an apple in the garden of Eden
Have you thought about that, Isaac Newton ?
An apple to the day, keeps the doctor away

They come in all shapes and sizes
some are long and thin, others fat
little ones broad as they are long
some with hairs that give a sting

All kinds of colours we come in
circles and stripes adorn us
winged critters are some of us
others have legs or even none

Our main task is to clear up
to compost the old vegetation
to pollinate the flowers
we are essential to continued life

Dodo is Swahili an East African language for insect of any kind...
