Modern Prometheus
To Victor Frankenstein, let's give a nod
Who was most infamous for playing God.
What he reanimated deranged his head
And left many that he loved all dead....

Vignette-A Greek Myth (Sic)
Pandora,a lass with 'all gifts'
Let curiosity take her a step toofar,
When mankind's evil flew from her jar-
Only hope,inside,was to remain
Released,it's relief,to ease pain.
The myth of Prometheus/zeus/Pandora & her box...

Distant Thoughts
Who or what was he chasing at the North Pole?
Why is that scarecrow of a man so obsessed?
What tragedies have driven him to such extremes?
Is he the 'modern Prometheus' that the title refers to?
Just who is this Frankenstein character anyway?...

We
The God’s know nothing
For the God’s are nothing
Their utterances are our utterances
Their actions, ours
We reclaim the fire of Prometheus
The destruction of Shiva
The might of Thor
The compassion of Christ
We are the god’s we imagine

Be Careful What You Wish For
Stealing fire from the gods
Prometheus would yearn
And pass it off to humankind
whose banishment interred
Their feet into the glowing coals
but faith out from the dark
Enlightenment a powder keg
—uncareful wishing sparks
(The New Room: September, 2023)...

Victory Shall Be Ours
Words, triumphant
In this world,
Refuse to be silent
The voices from
Heaven speak loud
Bare witness to
This seal and
Royal crown
To subdue
The ignorance
Of man and
Victory shall be ours
Prometheus bring us fire
Long live the King of Cromwell
This great empire and
Ruler of this monarchy...

Boundaries of Heaven
Cottonwood sky
Men hunger to fly
We beat our waxwings
Against this innocent wind
Then, we ascend
To the boundaries
Of heaven
What beacon of light
Burst, as a flame,
From the warm hands of Prometheus
This morsel of bread
Shall feed hungry men
We fly, again
To the boundaries of heaven...

Discovery of Fire
There are many mysteries to where fire
came from; some say it is from Olympus,
stolen by Prometheus; others from the Sun,
by Ra’s fiery chariot, while others say it is from man’s
ancestors. Well, the one with the upper hand is the one
who discovered the flame of love, which hurts
the soul, when it is put out; the only fire
that can do so….....

The Gods Are Against Me
With the weight of the world upon my shoulders,
Like Atlas doomed to uphold the Sky
Or Sisyphus and his boulder-
On Pegasus to thither fly?
The Minotaur and its Maze,
Medusa and her stony gaze,
Aries in a monstrous rage,
As Hades steals my Soul to die
Prometheus, who gave us fire,
Apollo and his golden Lyre,
Hera and her jealous ire,
And Zeus, who ignores my cries!...

I do not know?
Dear Someone
Dear Someone,
I am a prisoner
But humanism has inspired me
I wrote in my diary
That while I will never be Ivy League
My DNA enables me
To change my criminal pedigree
Dear Someone,
My cage is draconian
But the fire inside me
Won’t stay ignorant
It builds slowly
Fed by the sciences
As censors try to silence the id
I’m from the school of Prometheus
Yours Truly,
A Humanist...

Prometheus and Her Epimetheus
The touch of lips- brief and soft.
There was no more grief.
This evening forever lost in memory.
Through the ripples of untroubled water, we sat.
The waves rolled closer.
Together we crashed by the pull of the tide.
Anxiously losing track of time.
The wave- thick, unforgiving.
Retraced its step.
And I forever lost.
Forever inhaling it's essence.
Forever remembering that night with closed eyes....

A Quantum Statement
I remain, he surmised, the possibility of outcomes,
I am, he collected, but particles upon their way
like a snowstorm towards a windscreen, I wait to
be a final measurement, and yet, to all miscreants
in need of harmonious affairs, as Prometheus upon
his rock, as Nicorates in his right hemisphere of my
ever-seeing, I, the incumbent of waves gliding through
plasmas, he trifled, am never at rest in my somewheres....

Prose Poetry
Waste Not
. for public domain
Her changes, swift as Bluebirds fly,
her ranges, lift notes low and high,
and yet she hobbles on the ground,
anchored low, like Prometheus bound.
The gods hold stealing no light task,
better without, than not to ask,
but she, not knowing wrong from right,
could only yearn, behold the Light.
She sought Love without a care,
and found she some, and some despair.
Looking back from her present state,
"Do it again. Don't hesitate."...

You Poets
Like a
Drunken bee
I’ll fall
Fall flat
With your
Heaves and all
To me
Each poet
A Pandora’s Box
By opening it
I feel like
Prometheus
Your beguiling poems
Makes the snake
Come out
I dance
To the tune
Of the charmer
I fly high
Up to the sky
Leaving the earth
And then
You slit my throat
I fall back
Back to the real
Back to death –
The ultimate
It’s my fate.
