Innocent dreams dimmed in stardust so prematurely 
And still every day I ask the sky why you are a star

filled up doorways,
everybody attempting to rescue
their own personal space - 
yet somehow
each overlaps
floods the neighbouring aura
and ignites a spark
of life force
that will grow, enrich
and educate
the mind
inside
the body...

When I came to my brother’s house,
In the sweet suburbia, the house was empty.
But the table was set four and dinner
In the kitchen the food was warm. 
My brother has a lush garden and it was a hot day
so I switched on the sprinklers before leaving.
I heard muffled screams but thought it was 
children in the neighbouring garden playing

October tumbled into November
And brown leaves 
Wilted, damp and derelict
Loafed idly beneath trees
That stretched naked
Amongst the rich 
Sweet floral,
Of the winter Jasmine.

Oak trees cried
 Slow tears
Of brown and orange,
That permeated 
A scent of watery fruit
And lavender -
- Dreaming of spring,
And prodding the
Neighbouring birch trees
With cumbersome boughs
Like an errant brother....

A bird perched in a leafy tree
Looking all around
It spied a big fat juicy worm
Wriggling on the ground

This lazy bird kept looking
At the worm from up the tree
And thinking dreamily
I'll have that worm for tea

The worm was oblivious
Of that lazy bird sitting up high
Or of the bigger bird
Who appeared in the sky

The big bird flew over
Into a neighbouring tree
Spied the fat squirming worm
And ate him for his tea...

Blazing marigolds of a blazing May
Giving a wide canopy over a shaded pathway
Against a neighbouring tree of fading laburnums
He celebrated with a bottle of Chardonnay
Falling into a dreamy langour
As the laburnums sprinkled in gentle foreplay
Too hot for fowl-play
Many a distress calls of Mayday
Running hither-thither
His hamster decamped
To the cool of my glass ashtray
A sense of belonging everywhere at play
This is one happy birthday!...

Distant but ever neighbouring,
Misplaced though ever familiar,
Distinct though somewhat vague,
Absent but always looming.
To define would be nothing but foolish,
For meanings, it shares many.
Burdens, forever rest upon its aching shoulders,
Of that of previous happenings,
In ones harried lifetime.
Others can hold contentment,
Grief and loss,
Friendship and loyalty.
Hushed secrets of the past,
Pending stories of the present,
And probable tales of the future....
