Tender Leaves
Like the pure pink feet
of a new born baby that
never touched the ground
are tender red leaves of neem
painting the air with their blush

Hugs-2
HUGS
The day after the Tsunami hugged the shores,
by a penitent ocean lying low,
in the beach which lay mauled and scarred,
an old woman and a girl stood homeless and hugging
and not far away
a bower lay crumpled, within which
but stood tall as always the two-some
of a neem and a banyan in an unshakeable hug.

One Came To Neem Funeral Linda Darnall
She wrote Bits N Bots
A terrific, prescient poem
I suffer bots, bots, ads, and data thieves
(We all might be the last)
But she came with bouquet of words
To the funeral of my tree
There were only four attending:
My wife, myself, one neighbor, & Linda
Social media, life, friends keep us busy
I understand
Not everyone can come to
Unusual
Funerals
Still ... do think of our environment
Always...

Transplanted I Planted In Africa
When Corona came, I was on Reunion Island
Indian Ocean environs, nearer native South Africa ...
Transplanted, I have planted a garden, thrived
Without any research, butternuts survived
But in my pot and that of a friend's -
We grew Mint, Coriander, Hot Peppers, Lentils
The last was a challenge: to clean off the chaff
Transplanted, I planted again in Africa
Marigolds, Neem, Geranium, even white Lilies...

Bird of Passage
BIRD OF PASSAGE
Here comes him,
From the mountain and hills descends him,
Singing the melodies of the hymn,
In his hand a tonic made from neem,
His staff made from tree's limb.
As he travels without destination,
Good life and hope are his imaginations,
Sun,moon and stars were his companions,
His legs were never weary,
Neither did his back fatigued,
Till he journed till the end of the world,
For he was a liberal soul....

The Sycophant
A man is at his ugly best
when he recovers from night rest
Look at that man
perhaps the resting sun
dwelt on his chest
the rays carried torments of the morrow
of the hectic routine he would follow
Throughout the night
he wore his eyes tight without their lid
Today He's after the man
who lured him to fell
the fruitful neem
that harbored his dream
by his numb thumb
he did succumb
should he get him
he'd lynch him with a deadly rage of hell...
