Rules are made of Rubber

They said, “Don’t run,” so I skipped instead,
With jellybeans bouncing over my head.
They said, “Don’t draw on the walls or floor,”
So, I painted a dragon that opened a door.

They said, “Don’t climb on the monkey bars,”
So, I built a ladder to visit the stars.
They said, “Don’t bounce on the bed,”
So, I moon-jumped with a helmet of thread.

They wrote their rules in black and red,
And taped them to my toaster bread.
But rules, you see, are made of rubber
They stretch and squeak and sometimes blubber.

So, if a rule feels much too tight,
Just twist it left or stretch it right.
And if it snaps and hurts your hand,
Slingshot it back to No-Rule Land.

Where rules are made of bubblegum,
And break themselves just for the fun.

Too Many Rules

Too Many Rules
Wake up to all of the lies.
Always talking , here comes the fly’s.
Always struggling just to get by.
Work long hours, take back what is mine.
 Too many regulations to follow.
All my enemies will be at my feet and below.
 Camra’s watch everywhere you go.
No place to hide but run far away from you.
 Too many people in power.
Push back until the crowd grows louder.
 Westand tall for our freedom.
The government has always been the problem.
 Throw away the corruption.
Raise your fist high cause the streets are burning.
This is our purge who’s against us.
The high and mighty will become dust.
This letter I wrote to my brothers.
In rage this is not over.
 Wecannot live under dictatorship.
Light up the sky because we don’t give a .
Trample on our leaders who betray us.
Burn down their homes for there will be no forgiveness

Rules of the Game

Before you open the bottle
You need to lay down the rules
What’s in and out of bounds
But don’t spend too much time
Because once the game starts
There are no rules
And that’s why we love to play.

Just like a fan or bystander
In bleachers only to gander
We see D.T. cheat
And try to accrete
House box seats through gerrymander

Two rules of life

Life of moments but two
Teaches us tenets two:
Do blossom as buds do,
Spread fragrance, all your hue,
If giving love’s greatest of gift,
Getting, biggest trophy to lift.

Note: Inspired from the original Urdu:

Do pal ki ziñdagi ke do usul:
Nikharo phool ki tarah
Aur bikharo khooshboo ki tarah,
Kiseeko prem denaa sabse badaa upahaar hai,
Aur kiseekaa prem paanaa sabse badaa sammaan hai.

Rules To Live By

The Golden Rule
Help someone if and when you can
Help people as often as possible.
Give when you can even when your chips are low.
Try to do at least one good deed per day.
Malice towards none no matter how badly they may have wronged you.
Keep your heart stress free and worry free-hating none.
Be extremely honest-Let Honesty be your guide.
Be bluntly honest. Be Frank.
Be kind to others.
Be Kind, Be Kind, Be Kind--The emphasis is on being kind. Live to be kind to others and to animals.Good Karma will come back towards you like a rocket and overwhelm you.
Be Kind 25 hours a day in thoughts, words and deeds. Let Kindness rule your life.
Be kind even to those who are unknid to you.
Try hard not to bear malice nor envy.
As far as possible avoid confusionof any sort.
According to my deceased mom..teacher Mildred...as far as possible try not to be the complainer nor the complained.

And if you feel I left out any important one....put it in the comments section please. Your suggestions will be most welcomed. Thank you in advance.

Premium Member worker bee makes the rules

Chuck has rules for his children
for his house, truck and wife
his rules are inflexible
staunch edicts in his life

a rule for eating, for putting things away
a rule for gardening and swimming in the bay
Chuck’s rules are obsessive, some are silly too
But since none of them are working, what else can his family do?

Rafah

I hear voices in my head,
I touch pain
On every television
Except the typical symbols
Of hegemony
Except in a white building
Miles and miles away,
I touch pain!

For every leaf that falls,
Swallowed by the burning hell
From the mighty birds
Of weird names F 16, F 35...
I hear these voices,
We hear these voices -
Miles away, node in unison,
"The world rules order" Has exemptions

I wake up with a heart hurt
Deeply as though resting on safety pins,
Miles and miles away -
A voice in Downing Street
Sings a weird song
" A right to defend itself"
Uproots 37+ younger leaves daily,
Shame officially abolished
In the self proclaimed democracies -
Is humanity this wicked?
Is mainstream media this cheap?
Should religion blind us this deep?

One must master the rules
before breaking them -- it is
like that, especially with poetry:
One learns to logically manage
the spaces~ what isn't said, the
pauses and non verbal connective
feels --

The novice often says too much
or is so obliquely obscure that he
or she makes senseless attachment
with others --

Fine fabric of poetry closer
the frayed edges of language, loose
threads of thought we light, to keep
from unraveling. What lasting value,
if any at all, rises in the smoke, is
sustained by memory of the lyrical
flash.

Leprechaun Rules

Freckles decorated him from end to end.
In Ireland, there was no drinking after 10:00 pm

Leprechaun O’Toole, was his name.
If found with the drink, shame, shame!

One crooked night past 3 am, O’Toole's tea invited whiskey to attend.
Liquid rules that Ireland had spoke, were now secretly broke and drank by nearby folk.

His silver shillings were now mine to spend! He had forgotten no drinking after 10:00pm

Your nun,
Loving meant,
Rules can be bent!

Premium Member I have non rules

I do things by chance as a non-rule
Purposefully open, calm and cool
Scrupulous schemers and strictarians, stay out of my way
Happy-go-lucky and flexible is how I play.
