I Walk Midnight Arena All Alone

I Walk Midnight Arena All Alone

O' chalice of the world, mystical sphere
Treasures born from ancient raided castles
What of palid crescent moons hanging low
And the broken arm of heart's rabid fear.
Of smoky Indian jade and silver lace
Our God the Painter, seeing deaf and blind
This savage earth is it truly our place.
Dare we peer through the racing universe
Dancing forth forever and forever
Zeus in anger and Hermes in full flight
Gold cup, silver spoon and weather at June
And the venom in a witches dark curse.
Seeking the precious Grail, left behind
Sacrilege, the holy churches sweet wine
Odin in armor drunk as Cooter Brown
Is there true truth and dear love I could find?

I walk midnight arena all alone.
This wind does so chill, deep to the bone.

Robert J. Lindley, 18 verse sonnet
