we soared over clouds
didn't dare look below
capricious emotions
could wither or grow
you played your guitar
i liked what i heard
but to finish your song
you needed my word
i'm low man on the totem pole
and you're my belle of rock and roll
"now play that song with twice the soul -
don't you love it?"
there's oneness in twoness
to stare in the eyes
of one who looks deeply
embracing surprise
one jigsaw piece left
in the puzzle of you
do i fancy that piece might be me?
or who?
i'm minoring in history
you're majoring in mystery
do i like you unconditionally -
do i love you?
will you touch my life?
will we fly to clouds above?
is it me or who?
is it like? is it love?
we had our lives ahead of us
we had so much in common
and as you once remarked to your cat,
"how wonderfully uncommon is that?"
We are fractured,
Fragile,
Desperate for more
Yet we settle for milk.
We live to dress,
Impress,
And repress.
Our Smiles greet
soulless streets.
Internally, we are gasping for air
Afraid to show what’s really there.
Disaster could strike at anytime
Look at all the earthly signs.
We are always majoring in the minors,
And minoring in the majors
Leaving doors open to eternal Danger.
We fill our minds with wit and charm
While deafening our ears to the spiritual alarm.
Running towards a dead end
Seems to be a common trend.
Waves of nutrition
Bleed out all superstitions.
We are called to the mission
He already paid out tuition.
This is war
A kind we are not trained for.
The only fire that we are fighting
Can be found in Jehovah’s writings,
The true battle is in our head
Renew the mind with his daily bread,
This generation has a desire
For God to truly inspire
Breathe fresh winds into our atmosphere
Give us a chance to finally adhere.
