A young crow carries them-
selves meticulously, screening
their surroundings. Too wary
to engage with others, but
always so observant.
A golden jewel shines in a
parking lot corner. Tempting
the young crow’s eyes. Their
bill clutches on, fragile by
nature, it breaks.
Glass shards pierces their
tongue, blood cascades on-
to the concrete as the jewel
dismantles. Remnants of a
once pretty rock remain.
Lackluster caws transcends to
inconspicuous woes through
menacing thunder circulating
the floaters, ignoring their
cries.
Drizzles of rain deafening
continuous yelp, a dash of
salt soaking their insides,
their shadow scatters
far away.
Sign of new tomorrows?
The old ones may just say.
Agony, pain, sore sorrows!
Doubt, dread and dismay!
Wilted flower, came the rain?
Death, ye did disdain!
Thunderbolts across the main!
Blighted by the bane!
Soar above us, carrion crow!
Dappled light, thy roe...
Weathervane, point well to woe?
Reap just what ye sew.
Thus in springtime, new and strong.
Elders, ye belong?
O for heroes without song!
Sin's light, scuppernong...
Aim for hearts, O Cupid?
Well, sir, that's just my job.
Prisoner, enjoy thy bid!
Burglar, time to rob!
Rabid fire in darkness burn!
Hail, O sacred sight!
Tamarind a-taciturn!
Poison, photon, plight!
Jewel whom the hard sun off shone;
Surface yours: as bone?
O volcano, seen thy cone?
Debtor, care to loan?
Flickering the flame in fall?
Yes, and here is why:
Funeral, cast well thy pall!
Treacherous to try!
Gold long by prospectors sought;
Sparks of life were wrought?
Deadly venom, often bought?
Foreign wars a-fought!
Cold the coals of chaos!
Forever smolder bright!
Dancing stars of fine-flung gloss!
Reign eternal, Night!
Africa,
The undiluted genealogy of humanity and humility
The undisputed abode of nature
Surrounded by wild bushes, forests, winding rivers,
Uncountable mountains, endless valleys, sacred hills
And unasailable caves
The breeding ground for crocodiles, Gorilla's, Lions, Buffalo's
And unquantifiable exotic animals
The domicile of moonlight tales;
Tales laced with valor and splendor
Africa,
Where the stars and the moon defiantly compete
To outshine, and out manoeuver each other
And Sunshine and rain are a constant menace
The home of Kings and Queen's
Where the resonance of unquenchable laughter
Mimics the reverberating clap of thunder
Drowning and submerging the echoes of war and famine
Like a sinking submarine.
And they would strut around the fire
Then sat upon their stools,
And argued long, in learned terms,
Who wore the better jewels!
But then there was a man about
Who none had seen before,
And though he wore a gentle face,
They felt a gentle horror.
For he did not dance around the fire
Or strut about like fools,
Nor did he argue who it was
That wore the better jewels.
And then there was a sudden fright
As when a spirit calls:
For he did not stand within the crowd
But stood within the walls!
And as he moved within the walls
A warmer air was felt,
And with a sort of sinking dread,
The walls began to melt.
They offered him their rubies
And diamonds from their hair,
They offered him the wedding bands
Of women young and fair.
They offered him the peerage,
They vowed to make him king,
They offered him the chilly duke
And any other thing.
For all of this, he did not care,
He took the world unaware
With silver lightning in his hair.

Star
Shines
So bright,
Sparkling clean
In the dark night sky
It peeks out behind a carpet of dark clouds
Like a cosmic jewel, twinkling bright in the sun
With its particles sprinkled across the sky.
Like thousands of gleaming pupils,
That gleam like pearls on a necklace:
Celestial diamonds aglow like fireflies
Heaven's joy hope beacons
Sent from God, just
To us

How do I proclaim the Jewel of Jesus;
I’m just a fool. The words delight
and disappear. How does one praise
the holy one? He’s too much for words.
I’m not worthy to lift him up in song;
I sing along with those duly gifted.
The wonder of lyrics with such treasures:
Here I raise my Ebenezer;
Let highborn seraphs tune the lyre,
and as they tune it, fall;
I’ll fly away, oh glory, I’ll fly away…
How do I proclaim the Jewel of Jesus;
I’m just a fool, a fool who leans
on scripture and gleams truths.
My biblical articulation is mute;
how do you describe eternity, infinity,
true love? In simplicity, perhaps.
He was put to death by sinners,
buried and three days later
breathed forevermore; we’ve
been invited - we choose
our afterlife. Do you really
want to obtain the most precious
jewel ever offered? You can only
embrace, you can’t give Him away.
Ruby-red, sapphire-bruised, pale-opal…
Fiery-garnet eyes, many crowns on his head…
I’m just a fool to try, but I must try
to put Jesus in a human box -
can we even describe how breathless
we will be when we see divinity?
The Jewel of Jesus is a precious gem
It’s Him being a friend to all earthly men
Also women of course, and children too
All the faithful followers He doth accrue.
Jesus was proud to wear His crown of thorns
Placed on His head during the raging storms
When it was decided that He must be crucified
Because it was thought that His words were lies.
He came here His Father’s spirit to share
To tell of His love for folk everywhere
He suffered for it, accused of being fake
Hung on a cross He was, for all our sakes.
Jesus never died, in hearts He survived
His spirit lives on, on earth He’s alive
He’s there in one’s thoughts and prayers night and day
A light in the dark to show us the way.
The heart of Jesus is made of pure gold
That shines for us until we all grow old
He will never let His followers down
As long as He is the Jewel in His crown.
The treasures lie within the ancient divine words,
Often encumbered by perplexities and complexities.
Sometimes we fail to recognize this trove,
Overlooking its pricelessness.
The treasures are found in the hymns and songs,
Composed by the inspired.
At times we sing, focusing only on the surface,
Neglecting to delve into the depths of their brilliance.
The majesty of His presence heralds these treasures,
Yet we often overlook their essence.
We may not consider it necessary to strive for it,
But His treasures are revealed in our close walk with Him.
The jewel of Jesus shines through the stygian night,
Its light pierces through layers of deep darkness.
This jewel is a timeless mystery,
An ever-luminous treasure.
The jewel of Jesus is the quest of those seeking its hidden light.
They search deeply in the silence of their hearts,
Listening and being guided to the jewel.
Knowing Jesus is the doorway to His jewel,
Trusting Him leads us along the path to its trove.
Tenacity and resilience bring us to its chamber,
And redemption teaches us that no other jewel is worthy of our pursuit.

The deep red of power and courage
The bright red of knowledge and wisdom
The fiery red of energy and vitality
The pleasing red of health and wealth
The lustrous red of Love and passion
After withstanding the high temperature, I emerge as a fine gem.
After going through high pressures, I shine as an exquisite jewel.
After an intense process, I become Priceless.
I sparkle of purity and honor
I reflect the essence of confidence and leadership
I behold nobility and loyalty
I am rare and refined
I am precious and priceless
I am valuable and irreplaceable

jewel of Jesus
oh my God what on earth has become of you
the cross you bore and those days in the cave
torment and anguish all up in the clouds
diffusion dilution of promise and hope
you were to be the miraculous jewel in the crown
devoid of thorns that pierce our conscience
they tore the brilliance and cast it in alchemy
to thunderous applause of greed and contempt
gold myrrh and frankincense gone up in smoke
while divinity kinship humanity now burn in hell
warfare and anger instead of glorious peace
avarice material idols and rapacious destruction
hand me a loincloth point me back to the basics
guide me towards love kindness compassion
relieve me from fear and show me your beauty

jewel.
As an emerald, ruby, and sapphire,
You are most meticulously adorned.
Beyond boundless sacred zeniths higher
With Him, you are gloriously enthroned.
You, in His sight, are a mystic treasure.
You're more precious than the most precious gem.
His love for you is beyond all measure.
Aren't you above the creational helm?
There's merged in you His image and likeness.
It's this that makes you a unique jewel.
You're made to partake in His holiness.
In Him, like pure pearl in a shell, you dwell.
A golden jewel,
A night dazzling crystal,
An expensive gem, valued capital,
A young star, strong and real.
A view on the glow,
A beam in darkened show,
Sturdy in an alarming blow,
Simple and firm like a bow.
A gem unique and rare,
Source still unclear,
With its blinding glare,
Dazzling but hard to bear.
The evolving gem,
The flaming color array in rhythm,
A mile drift, dimming; is the new game,
Still...hope lingers, the prototype will reclaim.
Nestled where the hills embrace the sky,
A pearl of faith in dust and time lies high.
Its walls, like hands, in prayer remain,
Holding whispers of joy and pain.
Golden bells, like sunrise chimes,
Sing of grace through shifting times.
Yet echoes tell of tears once shed,
Of Ohlone hearts left cold and bled.
Beneath the cross, their voices fade,
Names erased, their spirits caged.
A candle flickers, frail yet bright,
Both hope and sorrow share its light.
And in its glow, the faithful see—
The Jewel of Jesus and Chain of history.
