Poetry time
Every line chimes
Stop on a dime
A buck for a rhyme
What’s a meta for
Similes are, like, a bore
A terzanelle’s attractive
Tho a villanelle’s more proactive
Witches vex trochaic pentameter
Curse iambic HEXameter
Traditionalists eschew free verse
Blank verse is that much worse…
Romance, a hackneyed chore
While humor is adored
Satire rates high too
Tear-jerkers ~ boo-hoo
Poetry time
Elbow grease and grime
Lines sparkle and shine
Craftsmanship sublime
O yes the tiny diligent little ant,
can nip, bite and sting I grant.
In defence and whilst collecting food,
As we do, but our actions crude.
They work together for their good,
As the human race surely should.
The future of their species dependent
On one, a queen, they won't relent.
Come winter in temperate climes,
Her survival always on their minds.
For as a rule winter for the workers
Means death for all no tear jerkers.
The queen goes into hibernation,
Gravid with the next generation.
Their way of life short but, no fuss,
A topic we should debate, for us?

Scarlet Rivers--by David Lustrup 2016
if you saw my heart tonight
you wouldn't recognize it
trodden trampled torn apart
before i realized it
shredded hanging bleeding
tendons torn and tattered
you were everything to me
you were all that mattered
and now im drowning in this blackness
circling the drain im going down
where is the end to all this madness
this misery is so profound
memories play like movies in my mind
kissing your lips so bittersweet
little short films playing constantly
tear jerkers on repeat
and id give my torn, and tattered heart
for a bright tomorrow, where were not apart
and id sell my last drop, of blood you see
for a single smile, that was meant for me
under star filled skies, in the deep dark night
i remember you, in the pale moonlight
with a million stars, shining in your eyes
how much i loved you, you never realized
as i pull the trigger
as i hit the ground
flashes of your face fly
as lights are dimming down
life is fleeting now
as im bleeding out
let the rivers flow, the rivers flow, scarlet rivers flow now.
