Flora caught some fireflies
in her little jar one night.
She once caught some butterflies,
but they did not glow as bright.
She also caught cicadas,
and she housed them in a tin;
in the night, they made a buzz,
which was a terrible din.
Spiders, too, she kept at home
and she named them Jeb and Deb,
around her room, they would roam
stop in corners, make a web.
She once kept a little worm,
a squiggly little fellow,
that made her mother squirm,
she named this one Othello!
Flora kept all creepy things
even once a bumbly bee.
In the end, they all had wings;
as each morn, she set them free.
Death only a few inches away
But Jeb just wanted to play
He bent over an inch too much
Breathed in H2O and such
Woke up in a place he didn't want to stay
clear cinnamon and pumpkin spice
bringing October into view
fall’s sweet presence is very nice
oranges and yellows in autumn’s hues
spider creates intricate web
clear cinnamon and pumpkin spice
produce in garden grown by Jeb
apple cobbler give me a slice
quick leaf movers – squirrels and mice
oaks let down their hair all around
clear cinnamon and pumpkin spice
acreage of leaves duly found
air is calm, mornings are cooler
Can school wait a year? No dice.
Jimmy needs his brand-new ruler
clear cinnamon and pumpkin spice

I saw him standing on the limb and I wondered about his sanity.
The last time I had seen Green Bat Clock Man was on my vanity.
I’ll jump! He yelled to the crowd of robins gathered around to stare.
I watched him do an entirely crazy summersault high jump in the air.
He’s chained! Ted yelled; He’ll break his neck; fall in the inner cove!
The chain unraveled as if by magic as the Green Bat Clock man dove.
He’s a wizard one screamed as he landed on his well-endowed feet.
He’s a mystical clock, yelled my cousin Jeb, love child of Uncle Pete.
Green Bat Clock Man flew up to the limb and did it again and again.
What do you think of him? I asked my not-easy-to-please identical twin.
She sniffed. I think he’s still a show off, and not to my taste at all.
She was still angry that he had left her broken hearted in the fall.
A spider named Deb was spinning her web
When along came a spider named Jeb
Though Deb was twice his size
Jeb saw love in her eyes
So Jeb built a web with great skill
His silky threads gave Deb a thrill
They both shared a web of romance
Then one day Jeb saw his chance
And he moved in for a kiss
For a moment of bliss
But poor Jeb had been misled
Now he's hanging by a thread!

Spider had his eye on Bee Woman for a long time
Before he made his move, catching her in his web.
He loved watching her wiggle and jiggle in her prime.
Are you going to watch her or eat her? Asked his cousin Jeb.
I am going to let her struggle, then rescue her myself, he said.
She will be so grateful, she will begin dating me and stuff.
But before he could get to her, another spider did, named Ned.
They had a battle over Bee Woman, and it was rough!
As I stepped out into the morning dew,
the rooster was crowing as roosters will do.
Then I sat down on an old oak log
and down at my feet sat Jeb my old dog.
As the Sun rose up I said to the Lord,
"Thanks for this life even though it seems hard.
Not much in the bank, but I got a house filled with love
and paradise on layaway just waiting above.
Thanks for my wife and the children you gave,
I'll work hard to provide til I lay in my grave.
I'm a simple man who knows his place,
but I feel important when we speak face to face.
Thanks for the time, I know you've plenty to do,
so I'll see you tomorrow on this old oak pew. "

Out with the old; in with the new
A face from the past simply won't do
Joseph Biden's fairly melting away
Don't get ideas, Hilary
You've seen better days...
The same thing back in 2016 was true
Jeb Bush checked all the boxes then too
A moderate whose wife was Hispanic
Jeb himself spoke fluent Spanish --
His downfall precipitated by one fatal flaw
He was yet another Bush family member
~ That ice never thawed
Ann Coulter opposes any deals on the wall
We vote for Trump and get Jeb, says she apalled
She tries to aim high, seem calm, serene
Kill the dream of DACA! ~ That's what she means

He asked me if I'd like a drink
I told him that I would
He lived in a one room cabin
Back yonder in the wood
He poured three fingers in a cup
Then poured himself one, too.
Smiled an' said he made his livin'
Peddlin' this pure home brew.
I'd stumbled on this man named Jeb
While roundin' up some strays
He dang near shot my head clean off
'Fore I could have my says
Once he saw I was a cowboy
He got downright friendly
He had a dog and a rooster -
A hoss kinda spindly
He had a pair of deep blue eyes
And auburn hair that shone
He told me his whole story then
And why he lived alone
He'd been here pushin' forty years
A sheriff on his tail
Said he ain't broke no law he knew -
But he'd put him in jail
He'd got close to the sheriff's wife
When she was all alone
She gave birth to a blue eyed boy
With auburn hair that shone
The brown eyed sheriff wasn't pleased
An' oiled his forty five
So Jeb ran here and built a still
To try and stay alive
So here he lives and here he'll stay
'Mongst the trees and the vines
A prisoner of them deep blue eyes
And auburn hair that shines

Left Right Left Right Left Right
Life went on a lot of years
no one did a thing
Along comes one man, Donald Trump
they all begin to sing
Send them back? And that's taboo?
Billions would be spent
What happens if you keep them here?
billions just in rent
Good ol' Jeb he has a plan
let's feed and clothe them here
Save the money from the wall
just watch illegals cheer
Balanced budget (Florida state)
illegals aren't on books
All are here, they were oppressed
(yes even all the crooks)
Yes, Jeb is really worried now
the bush name doesn't help
Big business and the C of C
just listen, hear them yelp?
No one has given time of day
till D. Trump came along
Most of them are in a daze
can't sing the same old song
I could go on for months and months
there is no end in sight
Those "truly taken for a ride"
are glad Trump's in the fight.....
Who needs a your highness or sire?
Hillary and Jeb should retire
Though them we can chuck
The needle is still stuck
As behind the curtain’s a liar!
Author's note: Title inspired by Simon and Garfunkel's song. For a dose of the 60's check it out--fun.
Republicans Are Really a Rip (Rest In Peace)
Took a jab at Jeb
Who might be a Johnny Reb
Should he ebb and ebb?
Full of ridicule
Candidates can be a fool
Mind has a loose tool.
Leaving things a wreck
Not playing with a full deck
Running neck and neck.
Down path we were led
Vote for Hilary instead
Hear what she has said.

For example how about

Go on and Gary
Sensitive to being offensive Benjamin
She'll be coming humming Henrietta

Greatness I got to gain George
These are just a few ideas and thoughts.
Someday we are bound to end up with a
female President. Only time will tell
unless your watch has its hands over
its mouth.
