What's Cooking?

Altho' fearless it was flightless
I do declare
and when it found itself earthbound
was the dodo despondent in despair
or even think
it would become extinct
if it knew it was in
deep doo-doo
somewhat akin
to the the missing link
unafraid of man
who thought them dumb
as they come on the quiet
an easy prey for sailors
a whole new different dinner diet
but there was nothing to be done
for suspiciously delicious
history they could never outrun
or ever leave Mauritius

Dry and Desperate

This longing in my heart
A yearning as deep as the ocean
An emptiness in my soul
A void as the depth of the hades

Like a fallen branch from off the vine
I am as dead as the dried leaf
Sired by a bloated wish and questions
Hungry I am for a will to fulfill

Lost to the course of myself
The hang over I get from a spiralling world
A warring peace erupts from deep within
Fruition fails, failure is faithful

An unsettled spirit lurks within this soul
Dry, desperate, despondent 'n debilitating
The goings of the living is a preparation to cease living
My heart and my flesh cry out forthwith to be filled

Despondent leopard could barely eat
He was missing his favorite cousin Pete
You have to shake it off his parents said.
But he had a feeling that Pete was dead.

Despondent, One Dreary Day

From on high, only by Him
How throned o'er, thought of?
When as prompt, through each flash
Rainbow's, ray's, re-sent
The heartening mercy!
The heart-warming love!
To believe, must we bear
Full-faced God's descent?

Despondent As Darkness

I wish I could plant happiness in your heart and heal you of your despondency. I'd place affirmations of loving peace and contentment in your mind. I'd say things like this and that hoping it's not for naught. What would you say if all your sadness disappeared overnight?

You'd no longer have nightmares. Just think, peaceful slumber with compassion wandering throughout your dreams. All you need to do is reach out and grab onto the love then hold on tight. Its purpose being to protect and preserve your soul for the future. Look inside, too, I know it’s there!

I'd also be sure to include some sweet grass and mock orange blossoms to fragrance the center of your hope with confidence. So be sure to touch them and feel their softness and take a deep reassuring breath when you do. It will set you free.

I'll exchange the darkness with love and life to comfort the place in your memory where your way was lost. I'll take your hand in mine and read you psalms 'til you fall asleep. There I'd leave you in God's loving affection until morning light where you're never to broken to begin again.

Oh, sad moon,
you float
alone
in what used to be,
your cloud nine,
looking down
despondently
at me.
I remember
your illuminating glow,
so gleeful at twilight.
I remember
the smile
you wore yesterday
when billions
of your friends
shared the sky
with you.
But tonight
the sky is starless
and you're now so blue.
Smile, moon.
Smile again!
I'm here.
I'm a friend

Each walk along the cobblestone of night
reminds me how gladness becomes gloom
a despondent lesion from a heart,
while star-beam winks without a flare.

Here trembles a skyscape in the cold
as our affection in gradual leaks drains ,
and near winter too icy lingers,
that numb senses against it endure.

Although this moment denies to grip
one dedication tainted with a stoic end
as forward crawls our harrowing rift,
where a vanished dream lies , concealed.

For with this acceptance of loss, I pause,
yet, a graceful beat remains in frost that glows,
to triumph over reminisces stinging,
and stumble down like passion undone.

No proof in the way I lie
The feelings concealed I only deny

Testing my strength at seventeen
Realizing thirty-five is not a dream

Circling vultures in the sky
Waiting for the dying to die

In my head it's the same
Circling around is only pain

Waiting for this feeling to subside
Like wind swept clouds from the sky

Holding on is so deranged
Stubborn pride must be changed

despondent

these feelings invaded,
conquered the very soul.
shards of sadness line the road
where, loss can lead to madness.

words offered barely pierce stout
walls, erected to protect her, from
good intentioned hoverers,
too many to be mentioned.

she can not hear nor see the love
that family, friends proffer
all her thoughts are frozen still
upon the loss that caught her.

these words won’t mend things
broken now inside this weary breast
yet heart strings spun then woven
can truly make a nest .

DESPONDENT SOIL

red soil, in a

hell hole, it was

shoveled, and the

hued cones, see the

borders, i am

waist-deep, in the

sewer, and by

waste-deep, i am

troubled, in a

cesspool, of woe

The Despondent Loner

If you look deep into these sad hazel eyes
You'll see a man tormented mirrored in the sands of time
Clinging to the last strand of sanity in his burned out mind.
Living out each day choosing to believe the lie
Of dreams coming true while they pass him by.

You'll see him hiding always from societies stares
Locking himself away from anyone who cares
Keeping forever buried the pain he bears
Never venturing outside with a smile to share
Leaving his existence to the world unaware.

A loner from birth on a cold dark night.
Left alone and unloved no future bright
Beaten down and shamed and full of fright
No ray of hope in the distance burning bright
To save from dismal days living out his plight.

It was so many years ago he quit questioning why.
When his heart had hardened and his tears had dried
Why he ended this way, a good life denied
So he just accepts his fate with a heavy sigh
Sits back in the old rocker and waits to die.

Of all the treasures one can own,
The greatest of these is love.
You're loved by me and many more
And by your God above.

Sometimes we must turn from ourselves
To fully understand
The loveliness surrounding us
As bounty from His hand.

Take heart my friend, you are needed
On this earth God has made.
Whether as sunflower in the sun
Or violet in the shade.

Each and everything has a place
In the greater scheme of things;
The mole burrowing under ground
Or eagle with his wings.

God loves you and is well aware.
He knows how deep your pain.
No matter how long the journey,
The road will turn again.

One day lasts twenty-four hours
And not one minute more.
Your ship is sailing with the tide
And soon you'll sight the shore.

The storms of sea will be behind
Despairs and fears all done.
Take heart my friend, we're here until
You new day has begun.
