delicate blossom
rests in the still gnarled hand
bruised petals weep tears

weary eyes open
tiny cuts, the body bleeds
peace still years away

sun rise breaks the hill
heralds another battle
draw your sword and charge

Displayed his sword-play in a tornado
But his sword slipped hands
And entered his ampersands*
So now he limps about incognito.

Samurai

The Samurai warrior stands unassuming, quiet, and fits in to the background on any occasion,
Each month is a month of new life, gales rush and sound over the tops of trees, he listens,
His life is one of wisdom and military education, he judges nobody but he protects innocence,
He respects all the seasons, the beauty of nature in all of its forms, a profound philosophy.

The rich cultivation of his disciplined spirit is a lifetime lesson, it has taught respect.
He watches as flowers show through the earth and wonders at their delicacy, a poetic beauty,
A true warrior treasures personal enlightenment, it is honed and is polished with refinement,
Enlightenment, watching pink cherry blossom in leafless trees, as nature provides everything.

Rich cultivation of the mind is expressed by his meticulous writings with skills of an artist,
His spring is spiritual, thick blossoms are pure a true joy, a China rose unfolds a red petal,
He lives an unwritten code of Bushido his values will never be comprised he is a man of honor,
And the true warrior holds loyalty and courage above all, he is veracious and has compassion.

Times in deadly combat does not take away compassion for the weak, the needy or the children,
A man of tempered steel, a man who would happily die for his cause, has a gentle simple life,
In a wood on a kind day, meditating on a warm rich river bank, the trickling water is peace,
The Samurai has respect for life, humility is the sign of power, a power through submission,

These hard won gifts, balance the Samurai warrior, he has a passion for philosophy, integrity,
As words can hurt others he carefully chooses what to say, when to say, each word is guarded,
To these men of few words, each word is a powerful statement and they do not abuse this power,
It's difficult to get them to talk, they will ask questions and they listen, then they advise.

Slice and Dice Samurai

Holy Crap, good one Cowboy, this guy gives a whole new
meaning to the saying Slice and Dice. Ever see anything like
it Cowboy? naw not in my years as a Texas Ranger I never saw
anything like this. I've seen knife fights before but never as bad
as this one must have been, whoever done this was really pissed!

This was no knife fight ole buddy, this was done by a sword
a Katana to be precise. Used by Samurai Warriors in ancient
Japan. It was their method of death to their enemies. Seems
to work real well by the looks of this guy. Any idea who he is Brick?
yep, names Mike " Mickey " Reubens local drug dealer nasty guy too.

So this shadow bum figures to do a little execution work to help us
out with the vermin of this city does he Brick? It do look like it
Cowboy, I think we need to nab this creep before someone else
gets food processed like this joker. Brick pulled the blanket back
over the stiff and something caught his eye on top the Bywater Bridge

Bill it's him. Just as Bill looked up the someone that caught Bricks eye
began to run, but not before Bill could see that the person was dressed
all in black and the only thing visible was his eyes. Let's go Bill we maybe
can nab this creep. Both cops started running for their cars, lets take
one car, that way if we catch up to him one of us can chase on foot.

Next thing Brick and Bill were of heading down Walters ave. Sirens blaring!

Samurai Knight - a Japanese Choka

Brave Samurai Knight
your Warlord, Itso, waits you.
Your ancestors cry
out for revenge against Mau.
Defend your family's
honor for all weep at what
Mau has done to our
land making us his servants.
Take your sword now knight
and avenge your father' name.
Your grandfather waits
in his grave to see you fight
and restore his house
to its former place of pride.
Itso waits for you.
Knight, this thing you need to do!

Samurai Honor
             by Odin Roark

He wandered about
Finding that reason
To commit
To dedicate
To protect

What was it
Where might the purpose be
Why was it important
Who needed such integrity

Thus

Came the spirit of the samurai
Willing to be wounded
Embracing his own spilt blood
Honor prevailing
At any cost

By the river’s edge
He did bleed
Losing life as he knew it
Yet those he protected
Remained respectfully with bowed head
Even as they too died

Samurai the Chase

Bill was barely out of the car when Brick pushed the
accelerator to the wood and screeched around the
corner into an ally hitting several trash cans as he did,
He also heard the distinctive sound of a cat disturbed
as it was in search of a tasty morsel to fill his stomach

Brick was looking up at all the fire escapes as he drove
to see if the perp was using them as a way to get away.
He picked up his portable radio and called to Bill, Cowboy
this is Brick, you got him ? No I don't, I lost him He runs
like the wind, Don't think I ever seen anyone run so fast

I would stake my horse he headin for for the roof pardner
Well then Cowboy, head for the roof, I'm at the back of the
building now, will get this creep, I'll wait here and by the way
that horse of yours aint much of a stake, more like a fleabag.
Brick slammed on the brakes and got out headin for the door.

Brick just made it to the back exit when the shadow man came
flying out the door and Brick was right in in his path.Brick hollered
" stop" Police" Then lightening struck, The shadow man hit Brick
with a round house kick square in the center of his chest,
needless to say, Brick went down like a Brick..Yea I know, lets move on

Bricks breath was found in the Queens a week later his head
was spinning and he was about to go to sleep. His mind was racing
the shadow was gone. The next thing Brick remembered was hearing
the Cowboy's voice, Can you hear me ole buddy? where is he?
where'd he go ? Hang on I got a bus coming, I got your piece.....

Samurai the Team Up

It was a steamy morning when Brick rolled out of bed,
Not sleeping well the past week or so made it worse
This whole Samurai thing was eatin at him
That's why he sent that package to his old buddy
Bill Lipton over at the 31st Park prescient

Bill was a Texan by birth, Divorced from his wife he
decided a move as far away from her as he could get
was in order to remain sane he was a Texas Ranger
and the 31st was glad to have him, for like me he
never gives up the hunt and Samurai was going to be just that

The 31st was the prescient that controlled 2 Parks
Prospect Park all 575 acres and McCallen with just
over 350 acres. Both had wooded areas, bike trails,
jogging trails and other activities which made them
pleasant enough places during the day.

However at night it was another story altogether,
It seemed that the prostitution activity was picking up
and along with that so was the pimp and drug activity
Pimps are not known to be very nice to their whores
and we know the Samurai does not like that sort of thing

So I thought it time to enlist some help from my old
friend Bill, I am confident that together we will
put the bag on mister slice and dice once and for all
at least that's the plan, I know it won't be easy because
the robed perp hides in the shadows,so that's where we look

I asked Bob Dufresne to collaborate with me on this I thought it may be fun
Let us know what you think

Samurai Shadows

It was about 10 am when Brick finally made it to his office
he was just about to sit down when his phone rang
"23rd Homicide " Brick this is Bill its about time you showed
I've been at work over an hour while you was sleeping
Must be nice to be a big shot and get to sleep in

Bill said I " you know what they say You hang with horses
you get saddle soars... Funny Brick very funny. ha ha ha
Hey what say you and I grab some lunch today and go over
this Samurai thing my treat, Hey now you Texans are pretty
well known for being tight with a buck but your on.

How about Louie's over on Tempest and 3rd I hear they make
a mean BBQ meal over there and I'll bring what I got and we'll
pa-ruse through it. Pa-ruse where did you come up with a word like that
pa-ruse...man your killing me. Well a man has to broadin his vocabulary
ya know, Brick stick with your Brooklyn accent will ya I'll see you at noon

OK Bill see you then,Oh by the way I don't think they have horse stalls
at Louie's so you may want to drive a squad It'll be easier for you
ha ha ha very funny, see you at noon. With that I gathered up as
much of the file as I had to take with me and headed out, I figured I
would stop at a couple places before lunch and check some things out.

I was just pullin out of the garage when the call came in, 1-william 13
1 William 13 go ahead, Brick we have another stiff under the Bywater bridge
sounds like our cutter is at it again, 1 William 13 Roger headin over now
Lieutenant " as soon as I got the call I called the station on the Radio and had
them patch me into the 31st and told Bill to meet me on scene now he gets first hand
