As I get older
And as I amble and imbibe
The wafting of the aroma of roses
And as I get older
I still rock (just not in a chair)
And I roll with the lingo
Of the younger generation
I think things are sick
I try not to throw shade
I think somethings are fire
I am stupidly blessed
(and I say in my Hampton Orphanage drawl)
One hundred percent
As I get older
I find (as Ben Franklin confessed)
That the God of Heaven
Governs the affairs of mankind
The good, the bad and the ugly
And as I get older
(I said older not old)
I am a work in progress
According to the Lord
And as I head to
The autumn of my life
(The words of my Army buddy
And amateur sage Jack
Echo in my mind)
"People say
I am in my own little world,
That's ok,
at least everyone knows me there."
A walk down memory lane...
Let's refresh your life again...
To rejoice all you've lost and gained,
To cherish all your joys and pain..
From a boy into a man you grew,
As a surgeon into the Uk you flew,
Blessed with a wife with love so true
Master to Archie ,a doting dad to two...
Cherished by friends adored by colleagues,
IT & Sanskrit champion- you're in the league,
A long journey without fatigue,
To know your secret, we are intrigued..
60years you complete today - wow!
Gathered to celebrate is this crowd
Come on Balen, Take a bow!
Happy Diamond Birthday!! We sing aloud!!!
Snowflakes gently drift
through a brooding sky-
snowmen and puddles.
Around the world
There are happenings
Events and Disturbances
Right here at home, Poets are gearing up on their journey of life experiences through their writing
Mindset in so many ways
Passing the days gone by
Emotions surging
Cries into shouts
Needing ears to listen and understand
Words to express
Poets being their own Commentators
As words turn
The mind explores
As highways accelerate
Words become dramatic
Active and aware
60 Minutes Swirl
With less and less affection
It can only move in one direction
Every time she cries
A little more trust dies
Outwardly not much shows
But inside she already knows
Ignorance isn’t bliss
When sealing lies with a kiss
60 degrees,
The sun is so strong!
I can stay out,
All day long!
My shirt is gone,
The heat won't last,
Summer is gone!
But keeping a tan,
All winter long,
Could be a goal,
If I remain strong!
Moving the dogs out of my spot,
They don't care,
Just move out of my hair!
As the temperature drops to 59 and a half,
the neighbors yell,
"A nudist colony, this is not!
Keep your shirt on!
We don't want to see,
Your bra as we stare!
So next time it hits 60 degrees,
I'll put on my bikini,
I'm sure they'll be pleased!
So many good acquaintances-- I wish I could get to know
Alas, we're kept apart-- cuz I made them think I'm too weird, though :(
Im 60 now
and my sister says
I do the marsupial walk
a short stop in the middle of the path
I realise my energy levels are low
its like preparing for old age
The pitfalls of the cannot do 60
but it can be a delight
You know your own mind
and have a turn of phrase
and Ive got my poetry
2 clubs and Morley College
I weave my own truths
and create my own world
in quick pace I can create a fire
in the gains of ones life
or adulate my half full glass of coca
I woke up this morning
And 60 was staring in my face
I wondered out loud
Can I continue on with grace
I have lines and scars
To prove all those 60 years
So many, many memories
With happy and sad tears
I have had three kids
Losing one, that God took
I must say, living through that
Gave my heart a raw look
He's showed me that life
Should not be taken at ease
To always be kind to others
And to never be mean or tease
I found out what God had
In store for me, to this date
He gave me a sweet little dog
And has given me my soul mate
So whatever time I have left
I'll take them all in stride
Living each day to the fullest
And I'll have God by my side

Across the railroad tracks is the woman of my dreams.
She’s a memory from long ago, a former life.
I think of her more and more, these days, it seems,
Wondering how my life would have been with her as my wife.
I’m happy to say that, in my life, I have few regrets,
But the one that hurts the most is the one that will last.
Her beauty and love are things that I’ll never forget.
I truly wish that I could go back and change the past.
Across the railroad tracks is the woman of my dreams
Lying peacefully, dressed in her favorite color… pink.
I’m haunted by the pitch of her terrifying screams.
Since that fateful night, I haven’t had one, single drink.
A couple of days ago, as I reflected upon
The Supreme Court's Roe Vs. Wade decision,
I was brought to tears and mixed emotions.
There was a mixture of both gratitude and sadness.
Grateful that the end of a very complex era had entered
a new chapter because, in my view, a major correction
was made. That was a cause for rejoicing, but from deep
inside the portals of my heart and soul came a painful cry
of sorrow for 60 million babies who never saw the light of day.
There is much that could be said, but that is not what this is about.
These lines point no fingers of blame nor look for any to praise.
These lines are about the two to three second emotional outburst
of sadness that I felt a few days ago when I was alone. Only God
saw, felt, and recorded what I felt. May we never forget those babies.

"Captain America will be waiting"
are the words coming from Cap's lips
He made this proclamation
after beating the assassins from their hips
Baron Zemo thought he could beat him
from swapping out the athletes
but all their might and muscle
couldn't perform such a feat
Captain America used his shield
to round them up in a bunch
and the police came to detain them
after it was more than just a hunch
Cap is our hero
and he seems to win every time
he does it so miracuosly
it's nice to put with rhyme
There is no place like home
I represent the black, green and gold.
Out of many, we are one people, driven to succeed
Global excellence is our only mission to achieve.
Reggae and dancehall are the rhythm and beat in our feet
Only champions are born here
Marley, Louise Bennett and Bolt are all homegrown.
With blood, sweat and tears, we work hard for our own …this is the Jamaican way.
I come from a great nation, with people of strength and determination. I am proud to call myself Jamaican.
We move to one love and drink our Jamaican white rum …this is the land we love.
The aroma of blue mountain coffee mixed in the morning air, the taste of ackee and saltfish with a little roast breadfruit are heavenly delights only a Jamaican can understand, the national dish of our homeland.
Look at our smiles we celebrate 60 years in grand style.
No matter where we are, yard or abroad with heads held high we are proud to call ourselves Jamaicans.
We celebrate Jamaica's 60 years of independence by re-igniting our greatness within all who call themselves Jamaicans.
"I am Jamaican"
Death will come to all who dwell upon this earth.
We are all assigned a number, it’s given to us at birth.
None will know the day or the hour in which it comes.
It’s best to savor each meal, even the tiniest bits of crumbs.
For those who open their hearts, love will be there when they leave.
Dying is not the end, but it’s something we all must grieve.
For every love obtained, there is a life that’s never lost.
We all will live and die, that is mortality’s bitter cost.
Live in every moment, that sixty seconds will come and go.
For every minute lived, that is less grief that you will know.
Learn to love each day, your memories will all be reckoned.
Cherish the time you get, right down to that final second.
