With Dread I Wonder

In the stillness and darkness of the night I lay in my bed and my thoughts begin to wonder I wonder what is life really all about Wonder what lies ahead Wonder how and when will it end Wonder, wonder, wonder into the unknown Unsettled with uncertainty Dread and anxiety fill my being My heart beats a little faster and louder My head feels cloudy and light I don’t like the uneasiness l feel Distraction is needed Until l fall asleep again The comfort of daylight arrives No more uncertainty , no more dread No more thoughts of the unknown to wonder

I often wonder about when the end comes but just hope and pray that it is with my dearest husband, because I can't think of life without him, we both think the same, but life has it's curved balls and throws them around unbeknown to each one of us. Excellent thoughts and write as always Deb. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

I think, Deb, that most of us get this. I like to think that life is something to be grateful for even having. We don’t have to achieve or excel… just appreciate the absolute, unadulterated miracle of our being. The odds against any one of us actually existing ‘as us’ were infinitesimal. As for our end; I cling to this… the thoughts and feelings that we had one year before we were born is precisely how we’ll feel when we’re gone… and one day we may be an oak! This is where David K joins in ;-)

I try to stop thinking before I sleep. It gives me sound sleep. Nice poem.

Quite a profound poem Deb, very moving...describing an inner landscape cranked up to an almost claustrophobic intensity by the surrounding dark. Thankfully the arrival of daylight signals transition. You have captured those universal questions we sometimes ask ourselves in the lonely silence before sleep. Take care my dear friend.
