Through the Valley
They have been hiking for a lifetime landing upon harsh rocks and dry land, ragged and torn battered and bruised they are not coming to amuse. Last night I watched the moon as it completes its cycle around the earth The glowing moonlight positioned over my head plunged me into a tranquil slumber, taking me above the sky and lit up the night with its gleaming light. I spotted them clearly in my dream, men dressed in turbans and long gown, Armed with bows and arrows marching quietly across the border with their powerful leader. I found myself on the upper floor of an enormous mansion in middle of a busy town. A mansion whose iron doors stood tall above me, doors that could withstand a thousand blow yet they were unmanned open and insecure. I entered the back door hastily trying to find someone but each door I pushed it opens easily. The extensive mansion lay unattended as if it was awaiting the arrival of a ruthless visitor. I gazed anxiously from the balcony and watched them advancing closer, grimed faced parched by the hot sun taking powerful strides through the valley ready to kickoff a fight. I ran speedily downstairs and looked around but no one was to be found, so I walked quickly to the ground floor and discern an unaccompanied security guard hanging out. Security guards, yes that's where the trouble began, an atrocity in the past that shattered the global pocket and here they were again sitting down comfortably accepting sugar for vinegar and obliging friends and cronies .One sole security guard with his rifle across his lap sits un-attentive enjoying his afternoon snack and ignoring my brief chat while anxiety mounts. I asked the laid back security guard how to get back to the upper floor but he insisted that it wasn't possible to enter from where I exit and he instructed me to enter from the side door. I walked towards the left side of the mansion and noticed people spreading out mats while others were camping and picnicking on the grass. I wander towards the front of the mansion and detected men dressed in green uniform setting up tents and emptying bags containing powerful equipments on the mansion's ground. I took one of them to the balcony and pointed to the men roving through the valley but my eyes open instantly and dawn took me swiftly back to reality. ©2014 Christine Phillips
