Twin
He was born three minutes before me, We looked identical, as much as two people can be. We both arrived early as complications set in, But he was taken to his heavenly home before his life began. We were both born within minutes, but only I was given breath, My parents were so heartbroken as he was born into death. I’ve often wondered how my life would have been, If he had lived, my identical twin. And sometimes I think of how life would be, Living this life with a brother just like me. Even though I never knew him I feel he is always there, Through my eyes, it's this life we share. When I was younger, I was told I had an imaginary friend, One who was present and played with me but generated through pretend. At three years old my little brother was born, Around that time my imaginary friend was no more. My little brother and I grow closer as we age, It would have been interesting to see how the three of us would engage. I’ve always wondered if my imaginary friend, Was my twin brother under the guise of pretend. I can’t answer that question as I write this today, But I know in my heart we will meet in heaven someday. If he is looking down from above and watching me, I hope he is pleased with the person I’ve tried to be.
