Dear Levester, Post-Humorous Letter
Dear Levester. On last night, while in bed before falling asleep, my mind became filled with thoughts of you, and My eyes were filled with tears. The thoughts were not thoughts of sorrow and the tears were not from grief. On the contrary, my soul rejoiced for the privilege of knowing a person like you for nearly three years. Levester, those two-plus years were filled with a myriad of lessons that you refreshed and reinforced within me. Yes Levester, God used you to reignite qualities in me often taken for granted. Qualities like: Calmness and poise, gentleness and quietness, and a healthy love and respect for people. I must say that I never forgot that tornado story you shared with me. You said that storm picked up the front of the car you were in and all that you could see was the sky, as the car stood on its rear tires. Man, that had to be scary. I will never forget one of the times that you and your son fixed our car. When you finished, I asked how much I owed you for the work. You hesitated and then said, "Is $40 okay?". I told my wife what your charges were, and we agreed that your charges were too low. We agreed to double the price. Lastly, Levester. I cannot for the life of me forget that 'unhurried way' that you walk. It's as if you are saying to everybody, "No need to hurry. It'll be there when I get there". Well Levester, that's it for now. With these few words, I will say goodbye and thanks for being a friend of mine. Love always, Curtis.
