A daughter In Law under pressure
I aim to please as the only daughter-in-law of theirs. As of yet, nothing has proven successful, and I feel his mother's judgmental stares. On a previous and most recent visit, her thoughts were that our dining room table looked bare. Although it is no fault but my own, I am sure if no harsh comments and such lack of care, I wouldn't have been at an auction that day or sat paddle in hand on its chair -------------- The realisation surfaces, and my racing heart plummets. How to tell my husband of the amount upon a contract that I signed, and irrationally agreed to submit? A panicked stark, yet it's too late, I've actually gone and done it. In denial, I tell myself, that surely he will love it. I never pray. nor am I religious for that matter. But still, I plead and say please to god That the finest art shall not break or accidentally shatter. Our newly owned glass centrepiece, I sit quietly smiling and admire. My most expensive quick hit of dopamine, and words most extortionate fruit-filled platter
