Quote by _Samuel Taylor Coleridge (from his writings) I remember, I was a little more than two -- To my auntie’s house visiting Mom would take The year was sometime around 1942. While they talked, I decided to bake a cake I pilfered through Auntie’s cabinets and found Ingredients for the sweet I was about to make. Flour, soda, sugar – this and that -- I took down For liquid (I couldn’t read) machine oil I used All mixed together in a bowl, this tidy mound. Suffice it to say, I was, by this time, so confused When Mom and Auntie discovered my career, I had proper ingredients with machine oil infused. With some brisk words and a sharp slap on the rear My baking career came to an abrupt, unhappy ending Toward home we went, me shedding many a tear. My whole life Auntie loved the story of my blending With machine oil the ingredients for baking a cake And I spent a lifetime of embarrassment defending What kitchen concoctions precocious kids can make!
