Matthew 5:9 9) Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you and persecute you, and shall say all manners of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Matthew 5:10 "Rejoice and be exceedingly glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." Matthew 5:11 Commentary: Concerning the first Beatitude it is possible to be financially poor without ever being referred to as "poor in spirit." Because poor people, especially those outside of the kingdom of God: are frequently bitter in spirit in stead of being poor in spirit. In this case: I believe the word humble could be a good substitute for the biblical example of poor. What is the beneficial reward bestowed freely upon those followers of Jesus Christ? Who are also poor in spirit? The answer is: the kingdom of heaven! Concerning the second Beatitude what is meant by "those who mourn?" On face value it means: those who are grieving over the loss of a loved one! But it could also mean those who mourn over the wickedness of the world around them? What is their heavenly and earthly reward? They shall be comforted first of all by Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. It could also refer to Jesus Christ wiping away all tears from mourners' eyes at the Beama judgement seat of Christ. For, all born again believers after the resurrection of dead in Christ, and the Rapture of all living believers! What is their earthly reward? Jesus Christ will use Himself and other believers to comfort those who are mourning! A-Men Roxanne Lea Dubarry Roxy Lea/ October Country February 24, 2022
