 The meanest trick I ever knew
Was one I know you never do.
I saw a Goop once try to do it, And there was nothing funny to it.
He pulled a chair from under me As I was sitting down; but he Was sent to bed, and rightly, too.
It was a horrid thing to do!

 I never saw a purple cow,
I never hope to see one;
But I can tell you, anyhow,
I'd rather see than be one!

by Gelett Burgess
 I Wish that my Room had a Floor!
I don't so Much Care for a Door,
But this Crawling Around
Without Touching the Ground
Is Getting to be Quite a Bore!

by Gelett Burgess
 I'm Sure every Word that you say is Absurd;
I Say it's All Gummidge and Twaddle;
You may Argue away till the 19th of May,
But I don't like the Sound of the Moddle!

by Gelett Burgess
 I Wish that my Room had a Floor!
I don't so Much Care for a Door,
But this Crawling Around
Without Touching the Ground
Is Getting to be Quite a Bore!

by Gelett Burgess
 I'd Rather have Fingers than Toes;
I'd Rather have Ears than a Nose;
And As for my Hair,
I'm Glad it's All There;
I'll be Awfully Sad, when it Goes!

by Gelett Burgess
 I NEVER SAW A PURPLE COW,
I NEVER HOPE TO SEE ONE;
BUT I CAN TELL YOU, ANYHOW,
I'D RATHER SEE THAN BE ONE!

by Gelett Burgess
 My Feet they haul me Round the House,
They Hoist me up the Stairs;
I only have to Steer them, and
They Ride me Everywheres!

by Gelett Burgess
 The Roof it has a Lazy Time
A-Lying in the Sun;
The Walls, they have to Hold Him Up;
They do Not Have Much Fun!
