You Wake Up Too Early Was All of It Just Bad Sad Game
You Wake Up Too Early Was All Of It Just Bad Sad Game
When your feet have crushed the grass at the cemetery gate
You forget youthful dreams but for supper do not be late
Hope climbed a mountain just to see the birthing sunrise
You wake on a Saturday morning to your own damn surprise
Your heart skips a beat or two when you see her pretty face
She wearing those pearl earrings and all dressed up in lace
Life stopped being so kind but your dog licked your face
And your own house is a total wreck much to your disgrace
All the world so hates you but your boss gave you a huge raise
And for once your lover actually gave you your due praise.
Dawn arrived early, its glow a soft-cast glimmering light
Your amused watching your old dog and old cat have a fight
All this darken world sits a burning, you add to the flames
You wake up too early, was all of it just bad sad game?
