Would She Smile
If she saw me today,
If she stood here before me now,
I wonder what she’d say?
Would she smile?
If she looked in my eyes
Would she reach out and take my hand?
Would I hear a sad sigh?
Or would she smile?
If she stood outside my window,
Saw the empty space upon my floor,
Would she come and knock upon my door?
I don’t know...
If she could hear my song,
Would she leave before I sang a verse,
Decide that I was wrong?
Or would she smile?
And is there any way
That I could somehow find the words
To make her want to stay?
To make her smile?
What could I really show her?
Can I really say I’ve changed that much?
And would it warrant a gentle touch?
I don’t know...
If she saw me today,
If she held my heart within her hands,
Would she just walk away
Or would she smile?
Would she smile?
