When I Died

My soul was body-shaped still when I died. I looked the same as I had that same day though no one saw me when I slipped away! I do recall my sisters as they cried. I hung around them so their words I'd hear. The veil becomes quite thin when one is dead! I heard a lot of funny things they said. They could not hear me laugh though I was near. With some things said I did not quite agree! Such things though do not matter any more. I felt such charity inside me swell. If they could truly know pain fled from me! If I were visible, I’d take the floor and say to them, “Grieve not, dear friends. All’s well.” April 19, 2023 for the I Died Poetry Contest of Craig Cornish

I really like how descriptive your first line is, with a 'body shaped soul' - (I have wondered if I want to hear what people will say about me when I pass) and very uplifting closing lines too~

Dear Andrea, your sonnet flows with intimate poignancy. I adore the comforting tone of your last line for a lovely finale. Best wishes for a win and warmest wishes for you.. ~Susan

I love the tone in which you wrote this sonnet, Andrea, a serious topic and yet I can smile as I read it, and say "oh, well, death is not as bad as people make it out to be!" ~ Warm regards, my friend // paul

Love it! Yes, we know some words would be funny, kind and others not what we want to hear but love comes through! God bless and stay with us, sweet one!

Andrea, I like this write and totally agree that the ones who once loved us are really not that far after all. Best of luck in your contest and be sure to write that eulogy in advance so you won't be disappointed when they eulogize you. You are such a crafted artist..
