Went Down She Did

" Went Down She Did " Twere that Fantome went down went down so she did Chosen she that Devil against then so to bid Her souls naught but bravest... bravest thirty-three As fury o'that tempest shook their ravaged sea Her captain young grown bold thus thought twere it so Match o'wit which way Satan's wind would then next blow Twas themselves what stood a'shore Ne'er a'seen such storm a'fore Hailed run this way that go south go north Twas all last heard as fears were lost in mighty sally forth And that Devil plagued that Fantome surely so her final day Twas October's hottest wind as ever hurled in solemn play Twere that Fantome went down went down so she did As against winds o'fury they sailed then on to bid Twas dour fate that which young captain had been dealt Or so in heart he felt... As did he sail toward wind and so then into night Twere Fantome took down she did young captain all his might As went down so she did in fury's wicked flight Seas atop foremast bare... poles then shred o'white So did'st fiercely sail her captain... unknown to him his plight Twas sure he'd seen his depths... in cyclone's surly breath Twas known to him he'd entered... that battle to very death Her souls naught but bravest... bravest thirty-three As fury o'that tempest shook their ravaged sea Oh that Fantome went down went down she did To all then lost nor aught be o'life so fleetly rid To that very bottom then she sailed... surely so she did. You bear remarkable knowledge of the sea and its power. And remarkable talent to relate it in such a superb way.

I'll look up the word fantome, too. Have you ever sailed on a schooner type ship? You must have been born to write these poems... or you have lived in in your mind and soul.

Thanks Richard Palmer... but search engine the word Fantome to learn the true tale of which the rime so speaks...
