Toys of Yesteryear

Toys of Yesteryear Some of you have seen these. Simple, beautiful toys. Played on the living room carpet. Sometimes on our knees. Some right on an oil clothed kitchen table. No hang ups about the sexuality of girls and boys. In those days, we were all considered equal and able. This is prior to Priscilla PC and Sammy SMART, When parents did not call the SWAT team when you dared play with a dart! There where wooden Chinese checkers, oh,how UN-PC! Try Russian nestling dolls. Surely, designed by Oligarchs, To overthrow the next presidency! How about a pair of Scottie dog magnets, one black, one white? Reverend Al and Jesse would declare them a national blight! Maybe a pair of balsa wood gliders? Oh, no! Not those. They'd be instructing us to be war mongers. Old Maid Card game, well how about that? No way, women's' liberation will have none of that. Funny, we never went around hurting or shooting each other. We actually read books and respected each other as sisters and brothers. You don't need me to tell you the vicious video games kids play today. The saddest part is, if it's computerized, it's automatically O.K. The children don't realize they are brainwashed into an AI nation. We adults need to see their games have some human coordination. The children see us stuck to devices day and night. Our pasty white faces, must give them a fright. Hardly a "Silent Night!" Nobody in the house talking! Each glued to a screen. To many, this is just awesome. For me, this loss in humanity, is beyond anything, I have ever seen!        November 27, 2019       ~~Merry Christmas~~ ** no category for toys. This is about toys.

I have a Slinky, and doubtless others. Oh! I can't do the paddle ball anymore. No darts. Love those silly toys. Panagiota.

You brought a very important subject to life in this poem Panagiota mou and discussed it so poetically superbly! Children grow up before their time, 10 year old girls look fifteen, we are afraid to sometimes let them of our sight for fear of human predators - from the age of 3 or 4 they know how to operate a simple computer - they have forgotten how to play in a sandpit! What will it be like 50 years from now? Scary! God sees and knows! Hugs Jennifer,

The movies, music and cartoons are gross and contribute to this. Kids have to be monitored by parents when on a PC or laptop. We had a rule this year, my daughter set down. No cell phones allowed when we were together. Macy's day Parade. OMG. I saw the first three minutes and turned it off. Women suggestively dancing in little clothing. Parents must provide healthy play environments. Your adopted grandson, who is 13 never said one curse word since he has been born. He is a strong Christian. More kids need moral and healthy play, things are scary now. Raise kuds right! Our future and theirs is secure, they are the future. God is in charge of this planet. He will end it and only him. Yours, Panagiita xx

when we were kids we were outside sunup to sundown only coming in for lunch we played and interacted with neighbors and used our creative imaginations, caught lightning bugs and butterflies with nets...we didn't worry about sexual predators or being abducted...i feel bad for these kids today and the examples they are being shown... excellent penning! :) hugs

Indeed, Sandra! The Joy of our Young Days. Parents do have organized play times now but the days of innocence are gone, as we knew them. Kids have sleepovers, swim in family pools, etc, here. Are big into sports here.too many stuck to screens in dangerous cities. Not here..parties every weekend and going places. Too many left to go through life with a mouse and screen? Let's hope thing improve...Panagiota xx

Sad times , kids today are stuck to their screens', they've become very anti social . When I was young,me and friends played out till dark and we actually talked to one another. Tom

Tom, sorry for the delay in my reply, Dear friend. I feel badly for the truly lonely kids. Screen friends are screen friends , period. Girls and boys Played outdoors as long as possible. Was the best years of my life. The push for Alexa,Fire sticks, ear buds. These are all device toys. People are not electronic. Plus the danger we toss our young into.... Children under 16 are not adults and can be taken advantage of on the Internet. So can we~ but we have better antennae...Panagiota xx

- A great poem ... and I agree with you one hundred percent, Panagiota ... a bad development ... both in terms of adults and children - Children miss the play and the songs ... and the gifts are not like before ... no socks or books anymore - (I do not have time to soup in recent weeks ... my father very ill) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

Prayerx for you Father, for sure. The interaction in games, eye do eye contact.. hearing their laughter... cannot be replaced by a screen. Even books have their own scents, screens? Fingerprints. Anne-Lise, best wishes,Panagiota
