Time Passes

A broken man stood Smoking by the river's edge today Watching reflections of a wasted life Ripple on the water, floating away Love's demise has made him feel this way And so he planned to leave this world Holding a card that said 'Goodbye Dear, No more for you I'll pay' Cars, clothes, holidays, maintenance Me Me Me Me Me, and never We Drowning, darkness, loveless life No! This man was me around three But tonight upon reflection I feel positive and free

Agreed, and thanks for your insight. This was a replay of my earlier poem 'Wasted Years', without the pathos! These are not people I know, but can imagine!
