The Angst In Teenage Cries
Brother Daylight, Sister Darkness
Oh where do I belong
I stand alone in twilight
Like a singer, short on song
A kite devoid of string
A nickel short a dime
Unsure of everything
A reason without rhyme
When I'm down and feeling weary
When no one's by my side
There's a comfort in believing
With my God I do abide
I believe that nature holds
The cure the world requires
But those that worked at nature's cures
Branded witches, died by fire
Religion fills some gaps for me
Faith in my God's unshaken
But when I see the hate it's caused
And the countless lives its taken
I wonder how a brotherhood
Or fraternity can be
A cause to kill, or murder for
Even Christianity
I've pondered and I've reasoned
What this life's all about
No wiser now, than e'er before
Still overcast in doubt
On the brink of inhumanity
Twisted truths and jaded lies
The tortured souls of cradled babes
And the Angst in teenage cries
