Spring Sonnet Elevate my senses with your flowers In spacious fields where they are free to grow. Deep in fragrant flora I could spend hours Refreshed by rain where gentle breezes blow. The snow has melted, now a flowing stream Where Earth's creatures feast below the bowers, And drink where dappled sun has left its gleam As sylvan trees grow as tall as towers. Welcome robins with songs in fluted calls Sing from their hearts as they birth eggs of blue. Bees collect nectar near the garden walls Making sweet honey with its amber hue. Clouds part as Apollo rises to grace The glory of the verdant hillside's face. 2-26-18 A STRAND (1046) Poetry Contest~First Place~ Spring Is In The Air - Poetry Contest ~N/A~ Sponsor: Emile Pinet

Oh Connie! You have "elevated" this winter day with a picture of the beauty in a spring meadow. Your words literally rise "to grace." Robins, blue eggs, spacious fields, streams, bees, flowers and breezes all blended together in the promise of spring. I just love this - a fav for me. Sending you blessings of spring to come my friend. Hugs!

I feel honored you liked this enough to Fave it Sam. Spring looked like this in Bavaria in May once on a visit. It was heavenly. Thank you very much. New year blessings to you. xxoo

This is such a joy to read from my nature-loving, sonnet-creating friend! The image is absolutely gorgeous, as is your word selection: sylvan, verdant, bowers, fluted, Apollo. What a feast! Your alliterative phrases are standouts: fragrant flora, refreshed by rain, grace the glory. Your assonance (creatures feast) and consonance (collect nectar) are delightful, and "Elevate my senses" is such a perfect beginning. Going in my faves, dear poetess! My goodness, I have much to learn from you. ~ John

You have lifted my spirits with this wonderful comprehensive comment John. I feel very honored to have you fave this sonnet. But I believe it is I who am learning from you! I just have not been able to write anything new since the loss of my husband and I so appreciate you going back in time to read some of my older poems. Thank you very much for your lovely comment and fave. Blessings xxoo

Hi Connie, but another poetic gem that does flow golden from your pen, onto the page the words come alive, your palette painting such wonderful imagery onto the mind's canvas. Your words take one to the heart of this divine write. I think I shall stay awhile. An excellent sonnet Connie. A fave. Love the content. Have a wonderful Sunday. Hugs....Mike. XX

You have blurred the line between art & poetry and rendered the glory of spring with your words so beautifully. A true artistic depiction, Connie.

This is so lovely, Connie - so full of charm and optimistic emotion and imagery ... this would have been at the top of the contest for me, and is going into my favorites. I had to read it again immediately after the first - that's unusual for me. Just gorgeous, my friend! :-) <3
