Quote is The Smiths
Death sits docilely, patiently vigilant of me
Waits wordless on a weighted vinyl chair, visits the restroom, holds coffee
Is this love?
People are strange, faith say Death is stranger
Registering unpopularity, scenting my intolerance, Death camouflages
If necessary, a tactful exit in obedient apologetics
Never without intent of slippery silent reentry
A crack will breach captain’s quarters -
Fact to accept, no debate or sorrow -
Eyes spiral hypnotized into the spinning reels of an abysmal house production
Death’s traceless breath engulfs my ear
Sickly prickles rise explosively, indignantly fighting violation
Systematic systemic blackout, stun, TKO
Ancient insistent presence, get out of me!
Hear clearly “No!”
Snapping spasm resets horizon
“A rush and a push and the land that we stand on is ours”
A rush of blood covering consciousness in chaos
A push to continuously reorient up
A push to keep a grip on the ship
A push to outlast, stand alone again, recollect control
Reactivate dreaming, roots to foliage
Our dance is reset
Unshakable, again
Why? Why do you want to take me so badly?
I cannot be killed, I cannot be consumed
You will always be covertly waiting
You will never win
