Red Flag Turned White
How quickly you said I love you
Yet you were always two strides ahead
Leaving me in your shadow
Walking where you tread
Red Flag Waving
I saw something in your eyes
That I dismissed as innocence
Never questioning the absent gleam
Ignoring common sense
Red Flag Waving
All the times you said you’d call
Sitting by a phone that never rings
I just assumed you got tied up
With more important things
Red Flag Waving
You kissed me ever so gently
Promising a quick return
The sun rose on an empty bed
The pain inside did burn
Red Flag Waving
A final flag did wave that night
No longer was I blinded
I had succumb to the reality
Our love was just one sided
White Flag Waving
