Deep inside my heart and mind,
in my stage of mature years,
dwell past and present.
My quest for life's future's plan
holds a shorter time for me.
Final joy of peace on Earth-
countries that work together;
end of world threat gone.
Nuclear war arms destroyed;
possible truths I will miss.
No starvation lingers then,
no babies cry from hunger,
no blank stares of death,
no forlorn, weeping mothers.
Pray my quest would unveil that.
This nagging climate warming-
deemed man-made or cyclical?
I just want to know-
do we need to change our ways-
or adjust to weather shifts?
Mysteries of outer space?
Will I learn of life elsewhere
in this Universe?
My quest- to find out and know
if we are the only ones.
No matter, now- this new quest,
though the answers will abound-
many I will miss.
I must dwell on the present-
and be thankful now for that.
