My life is empty, and I feel so alone. The phone rings, but I'm not home. Lost in a sea of self loathing and hate. I turn on the television to find escape. Watching horrors on the evening news, I feel compassion, but lose the blues. My life may feel a little ho hum, but at least I'm not on the run. Bombs are not going off over head. At night I will sleep in a warm bed. I'm not dodging bullets in school. Just trying to learn the golden rule. Politicians shouting out blame, driving voters insane. My dark mood swings to bright and my world suddenly feels alright. Focusing on someone other than me makes my burdened heart fly free.
