My Wish

Good morning to you On this lovely day Independence is the word If i may say I wish i was there To share with you A kiss on your cheek And say how do you do Take you to lunch Spend the day In the warm sunshine The American way In the evening we will fish As hunter gatherers do Play some music A dance for two Into the night As the owls hoot Skinny dipping In our birthday suits Dried and refreshed A nightcap for two As we lie on the bed Just me and you But the toll of the day Tires us so With your head on my chest We fall into dreamy flow http://www.thehighlanderspoems.com/love2.php

James, I have "tagged" you with a new "Haunted Poets" game initiated by John Loving. I hope you'll respond. My tag poem is "Dream of Death." Love you (but regrettably been very busy), Carolyn

The 5th stanza is genius. It's comedy, descriptive, and concise.

And I thought Independence day was about grilling in the backyard, fireworks, throwing back a few brews... but this seems far less stressful. I like it! Thanks again, James... ~<><

Well highlander, you have dreamed the pleasing side of democracy. And celebration is an American way... Catch the friendship that I'm blowing your way on this our Independence Day. And thanks for thinking about us. Lovingly, Dane

What a beautifully romantic "wish" from your precious heart, James. This sounds like the perfect way to spend Independence Day in the comfort of a loving partner. Dancing to music is such a romantic activity. It recalls lines from a poem I've loved since high school -- "pulse nigh to pulse and breath to breath." This type of intimacy is a treasure to find. Wonderful write, James! Love you, Carolyn
