Never underestimate the love of a mother who sacrifices so much, but sometimes we do not realise how much. My mum has taught me so much and is my hero. I am thankful to my mother for always being there even on the darkest days. For helping me through my battle with cancer and always inspiring me to be the best that I can be. It is a true honour to be her son.

A mother was born and dreamed of a beautiful life. A new journey had begun - but a hard path lay ahead. Demons seduced her companion - leaving her alone. The land was foreign and dark clouds appeared above. Child in hand, mother reached an ambiguous cross road. Before setting foot upon the long way - her conscience enquired: "Are you sure this is the right path? It will be difficult, full of pain" The mother smiled as she saw hope in her infant's eyes. A real mother would sacrifice her own happiness for a child. Storms came on dark days with thunder and lightning but, she kept her child dry and secure. Winters came with cold days and masonic winds, but she kept her child warm and protected. Sometimes she would not eat - but kept her child nourished. In secrecy, tears would fall - her son would only see a happy mask. There were days when life was burdensome and full of worry that shook in fear. Defeating hazards and obstacles, she guided her son along the terrain of the highest mountain. When they reached the top her son reassured his mother: "Thank you mother - I would not have got here without you, you can let go now. I think I will be OK from here." His mother smiled with pride - her boy was now a man. When her son was at a loss - his mother would remind him: "Son you only learn from losing." When her son fell numerous times - his mother gave him hope and taught him faith: "Son, you can't control what happens to you in life, but you can control how you react to it." With the love and prayers of his mother, he rose time and time again, until he stood strong. Life is full of trials and tests - being optimistic will help defeat hardship. Loving others will give them belief and a reason to live. When someone moves mountains for you, you make sure these obstacles are no barriers for them, when the times comes to shelter them.

A tender and intimate portrait of your Mum and of you too Silent One. You express such heartfelt recognition for her sacrifices and her love for you. Your wonderful appreciation and love for her is reflected in your moving words so beautifully. Her love, wisdom and strength of character come through clear as day and her traits now shine through you as well. As a Mom of four, with many years as a single parent, I can relate to the hardships your Mum faced and prevailed over. A loving tribute.

Very wise mother...."Son you only learn from losing". I have this saying, "Sometimes you win when you lose". We only learn by our mistakes. She is one lucky mother to have you as a son, for through you, she has passed on her wisdom to others. That is true strength. Now, just let me go get my tissues, this one brought me to tears. In my favourites.

Silent one! This is penned so well, and I can understand exactly what it means to be a mother who loves her children. All we do is think how much we can make our children happy, and try to the best for them in every way. I have six young adults now. I am so proud they have grown so well and it was a struggle doing it by myself. God was good to me, giving me six wonderful child to love and cherish the rest of my life. My children was a gift God gave me. They are all in there 50's now and none have passed on, except one of my grandsons in October 2017... God Bless You! Derena (Harriet)
