I was born in Meru, right at the center of Kenya.
Sometimes my friends and I joke that if Kenya
was sliced by God, and placed on a gigantic cosmic lever,
balance would only be found right where Meru rests.
It is a cool, warm and wet place,
which flourishes on the slopes of Mt. Kenya.
There's coffee, tea, milk, fruits, and vegetables
in abundance. There's always food at the table,
for every class of people.
We Meru people do not give a flying fig about one's
beliefs or political ideologies. During the 2007-2008
election violence, my home was one of the most peaceful
places to seek refuge.
I have had first hand witness of people from other regions
and nations refusing to leave Meru,
because of kind people, pleasant weather, and
beautiful natural sceneries.
Welcome all fellow soupers,
to my homeland. Gates for strangers and residents
alike are always open.
